Haven't even had them on for a month and a half and one went out. Argued with the automotive guy at wal-mart. And they finally gave me a new one. He wanted me to bring my car in because "there's probably something wrong with your wiring". Oh and we're pretty busy tonight. I told him there's nothing wrong with my damn wiring and I need a bulb tonight! Ok bring us the bad bulb and we'll give you a new one. Done deal, just needed to vent.

Those things are like 20bucks each they'd better last longer than a month. GJ getting those wally world fools to replace.

are there s*** i just got me a set to replace the yellow light bulbs that burnt my wiring

they are crap. i had them in my wifes civic and they both went out at the same ******* time on the expressway in chicago at 11pm coming back from our vacation in florida. they only lasted about 2 months. never again will i buy another pair of silverstars.

I probably won't buy them again either. They are good as far as vision and look but suck as far as how long they last.

that's odd. I have had mine in for almost 18months now with the only problem being getting to the freaking holder on the passnger side when I 1st put them in? What a f$#cked up place to put the wiper fluid refill neck. I'd like to meet the guy who came up with that and show him the scar I have on my hand from swapping it.

I've had mine a few months now without any problems and I even keep them on during the day. Check the Sylvania site's product comparison at http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProducts/AutomotiveLighting/Products/ProductComparison/default.htm and you'll see the SilverStars have the lowest rated life.

Their FAQ says:

2. What is the life expectancy of SilverStar?
The life expectancy of a SilverStar halogen light source is dependent on the drivers use of the lights, which vary by season, time of day and number of miles driven. We estimate the SilverStar halogen lights to have a life span of up to one year under average driving conditions.

Most lightbulbs have a life span that looks like a bell curve, which means most will last a certain amount of time, but some will last much longer and some much shorter.

It sucks that your's didn't last longer, but you have to balance brightness with life. What did they say in that movie Bladerunner? "the light that shines twice as bright shines half as long" Maybe you'll have better luck with the next pair you buy, but try something else if bulb life is a major factor.

 (hopefully I didn't just jinx myself)

i havent had any probelms with silverstars had them in my car for about 7 months then got rid of them for HID's put them in my moms truck to they been in there 7 months and still no issues....>< watch tommrow they will blow out hahaha

I put them in my buddies WRX about 2 hours ago. Hopefully they wont blow on him otherwise ill have to scrape up my hands on his battery again putting a new set in.

Subaru put the battery right behind the driver side headlight so you have to shove your hand in a 3 or 4 inch space to replace the headlight. It wouldn't be so bad if they provided some slack in the wire so you could pull it up, but they just gave it enough slack to meet the headlight.

How much do OEM bulbs cost? For $40 a pair I think 2+ months is not so bad. Now 1 month+ thats pretty ghey.

silverstars do have a short lifespan. some dealer parts departments sell them with manufacturer part#s though. which translates to 12month 12000mile warranty on them...but you have to have the dealer install them.

"the light that shines twice as bright shines half as long"- not really true. I dont think there is a set of halogens, or xenons or krypton bulbs that will last as long as HID's and none of the above are near as bright.

with the amount of money i spent on replacement headlight bulbs.. silverstars and streetglow... i decided to just put the stock bulbs back until i'm ready to buy HID's. Anything else just looks cheesey to me now-a-days. It's almost like "poser bulbs" i guess you could say.

I'm not trying to put you down for having the silverstars... i liked them too.... but they're just a waste of money, you'll realize after your 3rd set probably lol.. i know I did :)

i read in the paper that a guy took his 2004 nissan maxima to the dealer to have regluar checkups had his light bulbs changed it cost $250 to do it they had to remove his front bumper to put the lights bulbs in

personally I like the Streetglow headlights, best set I have ever owned and absolutely killer lighting

another bad on silverstars... I seem to have 'em burnout about every 6months. I wouldn't mind if EVERYHTING else didn't last thrice as long.

dont touch the bulb when you put em in, the oil from your fingers will create heat spots on the bulb and make it burnout quick. you also get heatspots on the bulbs when you touch it to other objects, like when you put the bulb in the passenger side light housing you cant help but hit the metal housing there with the limited space. had my passenger side burn out in about 6 months cause i touched it like that.

This is the third bulb to blow out in four months; why does this keep happening?
Bulb failures caused by voltage surges have become more common as new vehicles have placed greater demands on factory electrical systems. The main lamp ground wire must be connected to the battery negative terminal or to a cable leading to it. If a voltage surge occurs, the bulb will look like it was struck by lightning! The metal base & glass will be burnt or the filament will blow up! Refer to the Trouble Shooting section of this web site for more information.
