FREE MPI help!

You guys oughta see my map, with the turbo module turned off I still have negatives throughout the whole map, at wot i'm still holding about 10.3 on the wideband. Its time to lean it out a little more.

If you're that rich on the whole map, you may want to lower the fuel cal, that will lean the entire map out. You will have to adjust the idle area though. But if it's easier for you to do the way you are, then who cares, do it. Negative or positive numbers, they don't matter, as long as you get the fuel you need. The only real benifit to positive numbers is the lack of the minus sign you have to type in.

instead of running the xtra injectors, could you just run some wrx 440's?

You can, but the mpi was designed to work more efficiently with an extra injector setup. There is someone on the forums working with bigger injectors. Tim could probably chime in and tell us who it was. Nick knows as well.

EDIT: This is moeed posting, I am at rich's house and forgot he was logged in. (thumb)

lol. ok cool i'll keep an eye on this thread seeing how i should be installing mine in a few weeks.

also i keep seeing the letters TM and SW, i know the TM = turbo module, but what does the SW mean?

also would these maps posted work well for me in charlotte nc area. i don't know how much elevation would play a factor. i tried to find the elevation but couldn't find it anywhere.

thanks guys

SW=software. Yes you can use bigger injectors, but there would be a lot of tuning required to get it to idle decent and it wouldn't idle as well as stock. The xtra injector setup works much better with the MPI, because you still use the stock ECU and stock injectors to drive around non-boost, so it drives like STOCK! But you add xtra injectors in when you need more fuel.

You don't need xtra injectors or bigger injectors if you don't want. The MPI can use the stock injectors to provide you enough fuel for lower boost. If you want 10-12psi or more on a msp, then you may need xtra injectors.

Oops, I see you have a MP3, you can only do 7psi or so with stock injectors.

Charlotte NC = 795 feet above sea level.

allright i have a new problem.....i bought the belkin usb-serial adapter but it shows up on com port 5 on my new laptop......mpi only goes up to com port 4? i tried using the 4 setting but i can't access the mpi unit......any suggestions?

go into control panel/system/hardware/device manager/Ports (coms&LPT's)

double click the com in question and then go to port settings/advanced settings and change the port number to one that will work for you...

BUMP.....No need to keep opening new threads, just put it all here so it's easier for people to find.(thumb)

would i be able to download the software and play with it on my home pc so i can get a feel for it incase i do get an mpi? or would i not be able to play with anything, since i don't have an mpi unit?

thanks

you can,but it won't let you get a feel how things actually work, since you won't be able to see any live data.

maybe you can review some data logs

that is what i was thinking so i may have some what of an idea on what i am actually looking at when it goes live.

You can do that and review logs to see it in action. It may or may not help though since you really can't do much. I guess by watching the red curcor box move, you can see how the load, RPM and throttle position work together. The SW and Key are in this thread on post #56.

So for people who want to put their WBO2 into the MPI SW, here is how it should be done. I did it last night on AZMSP84's car and it worked, but I still prefer the stock O2 setup since I can see what the ECU see's.

This ONLY works if your WBO2 has a 0-1v output.......

Take the brown w/black MPI wire off the engine side of the pink w/blue ECU O2 wire, pin#60.

Leave the 2 white clamp wires attached how they currently are, 1 white to the engine side and 1 white to the ECU side.

Take the brown w/balck MPI wire into the 0-1v output on your WB.

You have to leave the 2 stock O2's installed since the ECU will still be using them and you will still be clamping them. The WBO2's 0-1v output will then be your AFR meter's input on the MPI software, so you should have a more accurate narrowband reading. When I tuned it last night, I did not look at the SW so I do not know how accurate it reads. The MSP's are so damn rich that I was watching the WBO2 to trim out as much as I can when the TM kicks on. Maybe AZMSP84 can post how the AFR on the SW works now.

Oh yeah, I have a 9psi MSP map that will work for 10psi because it's pretty rich. I'll post it up tonight when I get home.

OK, here's the map I made for a local MSP. It was made with 3 people in the car, not an optimum tuning situation, but it ran good. It is still rich in spots around the switch point and is rich up top. I made it rich up top so the user could tweak it as he felt it needed. The switch tuning will take a bit more time to fine tune, but it is pretty close. This is for the setups with the purple wires hooked up and I think it will work on a 10psi setup because he was between 9 and 10 all through the runs.

Now this is JUST a base map and may react different depending on where you are located. This was also tuned with the MAF on the hot side, FMIC and 2.5" exhaust. We hooked the WBO2 0-1v output up to the MPI also with this one, so I am not 100% what the ECU was seeing off the stock O2. And this is by no means a perfect map, but it did pull hard a s*** and it does still need some tweaking.

And on that note, it runs better than it ever has, Lol. Ok so what I wanted to do is have a more accurate A/F reading when I did the record feature on the SW. Since I find it hard to actually tune it while driving this is what I wanted. I have a Innovate Motorsports wideband in my car the XD-1 with the LC-1 sensor. So on that system, and I'm sure many others, it had two analog out wires coming out of the control box. On the Innovate it is a yellow and a brown wire. The yellow wire is what I needed it is a 0-1V output like our stock O2 sensor is. So (correct me if I'm wrong on this Tim) we cut the brown/black wire and attatched the analog output wire to the MPI side of the wire. This has given me a much better 02 reading and should make it easier to tune when not driving. Hope this helps eveyone a little bit. Later

OK, so here's the new software I just got from Nick. It looks the same but it is supposed to have been fixed. I tried it out and didn't get any errors, so maybe someone who has had the errors can try it out.

so,I started boosting a few days ago,and realized I can't.
I felt FUEL CUT!!!!!!!!!................or,thats what I thought.

seems as though it really isn't much of a fuel cut at all, instead it goes straight to a rich misfire, odd.

I watched the cursor, and it went dramaticly lower in the load, aswell.

if u add to much fuel it bucks like fuel cut, cause ur blowing out teh spark. could that be it? ive done it.
