So I just got it in the mail today, it's so tiny! Well i can't waite to get this on already. Planning on doing it this weekend, hope all goes well and the cars runs fine. Im not building it up completely stock just gonna mess with the air/fuel mix to get the hang of how it works.

Good luck with it, let us know how it turns out.

brealmp3---so what's the status man, git er tuned yet?

I tired to install my MPI about 3-4 month ago, it didnt work because of the TM. Now I am finally have some time on mine hand, and ready to give it another try. Last time a lot of you guys helped me a lot, thanks. Hopefully you guys can help me do it right this time.

Here is my problem, I have a used MPItuner, had problem installing it last time. Because the seller forgot to tell me its a old turbo mardule. I would need a 1k resister. Can someone show me some picture of how to do that? Or how to wire that???

Please be clear( like which wire connect to the 1k), I am not very good with wires.

What's wrong with what you R using now? You can just tweak it and see how she runs. I would try that first, since you know it works. What ECU is in there now? R U going to the MP3 ECU? I'll give you my map and you can adjust the fuel down.

I have the MP3 ECU in there now, but I have a pretty sure lock that I can fix the P5 ECU swap Cel issue, so I want to switch back. I really like the idea of not having to worry about the timing soo much since I dont have a J&S. Anyway, I don't have any of my old P5 ECU maps, soooo thats where yall come in ahah

Screw that P5 ECU crap!!! I'll give you my timing map that I have used forever. It will be MORE then safe enough for you to use with your setup. That way you keep the car running like it should!!!(thumb)

This is where the timing needs to be taken out. If you want to be even more paranoid, take another degree or so off all the numbers. This will be more then safe for 6.5 psi running 93 octane back there.

excellent...This map was created using your J&S no? That makes me feel safe :-D

Im going to load up that ignition map..then do some driving and take a datalog, that way you can help me really get my tune in check...I think its pretty lousy right about now. Would it be at all beneficial to somehow have the MPI read my Wideband? Can it even do that?

i'm in the middle of installing my MPI... how do i know if i have the old or new TM?
mine's black with silly wires...

KzA--yes that timing was made using the J&S. It was actually made by Little Beavis a long time ago and I changed it a very little, but it should be safe.

Lil Freek--there's no real way to tell. It really doesn't matter which version you have, they all work, just some of the original ones added more fuel.

I've read about half this thread but I need some info cause I am confused. I have a 2001 LX 2.0 working on boost.

I see people upgrading to a MSP ecu and then getting a MPI. Can I not tune the stock settings on my ecu and aftermarket parts with just an MPI. Is there a need or significant advantage to the MSP ecu and then MPI?

I haven't heard of a lot of people doing it, but there have been some. The thinking is that since the MSP ECU has more fuel already, that you can get more fuel without needing xtra injectors.

On a regular protege with turbo, the MPI alone will allow enough fuel for 5psi. It's setup this way so it's easier to tune......some people had problems tuning the version that would allow 8psi or more.

So yes you can tune on a stock non MSP ECU, but you are limited to how much boost. Xtra injectors will give you more fuel then your motor can handle and make tuning sooooo much easier. I would recommend getting the xtra injectors with the MPI if you can, you will love it and never have to worry about fuel again.
