Favorite old POS you have owned...

My 85 Dodge Aries was a P.O.S. Everytime I took it to a repair shop they would look at it like "How is this thing still running".

lol, everytime we take my hubbys cavalier to the shop the mechanic says 'Are you sure you want to fix this?'

1977 Rabbit. One of the FI ones? Greatest memories are that every time I would drive the car when it was over 90 degrees and driving 30+ minutes, the car would simply die due to vapor lock. Back then I used it as a good reason for ice cream break. The 2nd was when the rear wheel suspension on the passenger side finally rusted completely off. The wheel was litterallu burined in to wheel well. I drove the car the couple miles dragging the back tire ti destruction. Walked inside, dad asked me what was wrong? I said go look at the car... He came in and said we can fix that. Grabbed this steel 6' look steel bar that was prolly .75"x2" and cut a hole ino the rocker from wheel well and bent the bar around and into the rocker and fixed it all up. And it worked! I sold it to a buddy shortly thereafter for a couple 12-packs of beer. It had 286k miles on it when I had it. Friend who bought it said the motor finally died around 350k.

What a piece, but learned allot about cars owning a vDub.

Loved my 74 Beetle...."juicy orange" is what I called the color. Body in excellent shape, but had horrible mechanical problems due to neglect and stupidity. (Like the distributor being installed 180 degrees off which made it challenging to tune up). There were countless other stupid things done to it by previous owner(s) and after spending a solid month working on it far more than I was driving it, I got rid of it. If I'd had an air-conditioned shop, things might have gone very differently. I've only seen it once since I sold it, and the driver wasn't the same guy I sold it to, so it's making the rounds in North Texas now.

1964 Buick LeSabre Coupe 400cu 4bbl. Broken rear springs, rust everywhere, but gobs of sweet V8 torque...

1989 Dodge Daytona - Shelby - 2.2L I4 Turbo Intercooled

I smoked so many cars who had no idea wtf just walked their asses. (first)

I caught air over a bridge, running from the Assistant Principal in a golf cart, ditching school one day. I left blackies the entire length of the school leaving the lot that day. (burnout)Memories.

great thread btw!

My pair of early 90's Supras. Both cars were just animals. You know you can't judge Toyotas very well on reliability when you own a Supra. But you can judge their soul. Want more power? Shim the wastegate! HAHA. I also remember getto-rigging a set of I.C. pipes for the thing using PVC and metal bands. That was an ordeal!

Worst situation (besides motors blowing while driving on the highway of course) was when I forgot to fully tighten the targa top on my Red one. I just put the top on without screwing it in, to keep water out if it rained at night. Well it didn't,and it was a beautiful day. So I take off, and as I hit about 40 mph, I start to see daylight in between the roof and the winshield top. Immediately thereafter, I have a roof that is flying in the air, and it crashes painted side down of course into the asphalt. I hit the brakes, skidded to a stop, and the roof slid behind me and stopped at my rear tires. Classic. From there on out, until I sold that car, the targa top never quite worked right or looked right again.

1969 Olds Cutlass S. Outside it looked like an oxidized beater. Bought for $300 and it became my first project vehicle. Interior was clean and fresh. Put a fresh 350 Rocket in it and proceeded to drive the crap out of it until I sold it.

My favorite from my past was my first car I had 1994....

1985 Ford EXP. It was gold with grey interior and it was a 5-speed. LOL I beat that car up and it still ran like a top for me. It would do every bit of 95 mph for me too. I got rear-ended at a stop light in 1997 and that was the end of it's days. It had a freshly rebuilt motor with less the 1000 miles on it when it was hit. So my dad got me another car and swapped the motor from that into a new body and drove it around for years. It got sold in to somebody else in 2004

Black 91' Mx6 GT. It ran horribly and gobbled gas at an alarmign rate (rich). But when the boost would come in. It' pulled hard(drive2).....until it hit fuel cut. Then I'd get (owned)lol

Love that car.

A 95 mitsubishi mirage...165,000 miles, oxidizing paint...I kept it clean though and everytime i went to dry it off I found red paint on my towel lol...It had some Heavy ass chrome spoke rims and ghetto white tribal pinstriping...For 500 bucks it was a steal
