i got beat off the line by a stock hyundai elantra...... maybe i didnt rev high enough or shift right....... :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

the dude was my friend so it wasnt that bad...... who am i kidding, yes it was..

Surprisingly, the Elantra has 10 more HP than our cars. That was the only reason I even considered an Elantra when I was looking to buy. Then I remembered, it's a Hyundai.

What is all this animosity toward Hyundai. It's a good car company. They now have a very respectable sports car and it has been doing well in the SCCA pro rally series. Especially for how new it is. I foresee great things from them in the comming years

Hyundai is doing a lot better job than it has been known to do in the past. The fact that they back their cars with an industry-best warranty is somewhat of a testament to that. But come on, thier past reliability up until now has been poor. The interiors still come off as GM quality = cheap. But yes, the cars are better now. The Elantra took second place by one point to the Protege in the latest C&D comparo.

Even Kias are starting to look better under their guidance. Whouda thunk it?

they have the 5 valve per cylinder tiburon motors. I've seen stock dyno's of about 120 whp with them.

Seeing how your p5 probably put out 105 whp or less, its not surprising he beat you.

uhhhhhhhhhh Cops at an autocrosss. Usually an autocross is approved and so cops don't mess with you. An autocross is not weaving in and out of a parking lot making turns around people and their shopping carts. And yeah hyundai actually made me look twice at the new tiburion , still wouldn't own one but they are looking 200% better than they did.

it was an empty parking lot at a comunity college, the only reason the cops were coming our way is because the cops up hear are major asswholes, they break up groups of people that just sit in parking lots and talk, they gave me a $75 ticket for some blue lights

is a Honda LX, a non-Z Focus, or a Suzuki; you are probably going to get snookered in a green light grand prix. Every other compact car tested by Car and Driver in this month's issue was faster to 30 mph and 60 mph than a Protege. Since a Protege LX has the same drive train as a P5, it has nearly the same acceleration performance. Jim
