What is our stock exhaust size? 2.0L... Is it 2.25in? If so, then it shouldnt really be upgraded until you get beyond bolt-ons right? Thanks..

i doubt its that big... its more like 1.75"
Im running 2.25" pipes now and its way bigger than say the pipes connecting to the cat

Yeah, it's stock like 2.25 Outer diameter...and where the piping pinches by the flanges it's gotta be 1.75 or less...Definitely under 2 inches in the staight areas...But with the breathless FS-DE...it don't really matter...can't suck enough air anyway...

Ok, well I think I have aftermarket piping. Did some math and the diameter said to be 2.23 in..

they should, on my probe (same motor as you guys) i jsut put a cat back on and it lined up with the cat. holes fine

OEM piping for all 2.0L FSDE motors is 2.25", this is really all you need for N/A motors, 2.5" lets exhaust gasses cool quicker, become harder to move and is better for turbomotors.

i was thinking getting an ebay exhuast, and use the mid piping between the catback and the muffler.

if you already have a cat (assuming you want one), having an exhaust shop take a piece of piping and welding that into the middlle and two flanges on the ends shouldn't be expensive at all.

that is unless you really want some stainless or aluminized (haha) bling beneath your car.

The problem is you are confusing people...The "Mid-Pipe" is after the J-pipe and contains a catalytic converter..

What you keep calling the mid-pipe, is not the mid-pipe and contains a "resonator" only. You want to find a cat to axle section right and match it to a different brand axle-back..right??? That's fine, but a bit "Frankenstein"...the flanges for an axle-back only will be made to match up with the OEM flanges...so you are not guaranteed that they will match up with your cheap EBAY piping...

And the OEM piping is 1.75" inner diameter....NOT 2.25"

Why???? Would you want to do that???? The OEM muffler is a big constriction in the exhaust flow. If you want better exhaust flow, this is not the way to go....but it will probably NOT match up very well...same problem as I stated before..The cat-back will have different flanges than stock...

Now I'm confused....

Sounds more like a waste of time/money...That piece of piping alone will make NO difference in the performance...You will have constrictions before and after that part, and air-flow will not be increased any measurable amount.

A new pipe without the "resonator" piece would change the sound slightly...but not worth the time/money...

I got a question to throw in the mix then... what size muffler would be most efficient and sound the best??? I have a ractive muffler with ahhhhhhhhh, I wanna say 3 to 4 inch openning. now my car sounds like an ass bag Honda.

what is the largest muffler openning i should go with and how can I get closer to my car sounding like an Audi S4 than a ricer?
