12psi Protege5
People:

Remember my Compression test was:
CYL1: 150psi
CYL2: 95PSI
CYL3: 165PSI
CYL4: 165PSI

RESULTS: RINGS ARE OK - BUT BROKEN PISTON

damn how long you had the tubro on?
Couple of months, but remember, DAY 1 of setup, had overboost of over 20psi (wastegate boost line not plugged). Problem fixed next day...and it was running ok.

one other question. didn't you have a a/f gauge to see if you were running lean?
Yes, I was monitoring a lean problem, the A/F was showing a leaning problem on WOT. Then I fixed it re-running the vacumm/boost lines.
Then after a week, I plugged the MBC, running 7.5 psi. One day it started to lean, and at the same time to overboost 10-15psi, and that day I did WOT on 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear and the clutch slipped on all gears, so...i was redlining too. That was the day I think it dammaged the rings, somehow the MBC was leaking boost and not delivering it to the FMU and Wastegate.

I noticed the problem after that drive, because I couldn believe that I spanked the hell out of a Tiburon V6 like it was stopped, I made him believe his car is slow as hell. Pulled 3 car-lenghts in 3 seconds in 3rd gear. 1st and 2nd gear we ser side to side (clutch slippage)

So, I tried 1,2,3 gears pulls again but alone in the street so I could see the gauges, and saw the problem.

igdrasil,
did you look at the head gasket?? You really should check it to see if it's blown. I am still pushing this theory because it sounds like that it could be the problem! :D

ditto.

Also, be careful resting the engine on its own oil pan. In many cars, a small dent in the pan near the oil pickup will starve the engine of oil...and you know the rest...

Is that a split in the upper oil jet right in the center of the gasket?? Also, notice the flaking and the chips in the gasket around cylinders 2, 3, and 4. I can't really tell but, if that is a thin spot in the gasket that is a sign of a blown head gasket. You don't have to have a tear in it to be blown. Thin spots in the gasket around the cylinders will give you pressure loss. I have (2) blown head gaskets that look exactly the same. You might just want to try to replace it and run the car N/A and see what happens before you go and dump mad loot into the motor. Let me know.

hmmmm....i will have to check that gasket very close...will take pictures tomorrow of the gasket alone, both side.
We will anyway change the gasket...but cylinder1 has 2 small marks. WIll take pictures too.

I will let you know.

I should hope so. Isn't a head gasket worthless after the first use? ie, you can't use it again after cracking open the head?

Sounds good! I am thinking, if you were to have a melted ring, broken ring, the damage would be a lot more noticable. With a broken ring the score marks would be very deep. It would kinda look like vertical streaks in the cylinder walls. The honed cross hatch look on the cylinder wall would be gone.

YES, sir :D

how much did you pay for the second engine?
$700.00 out from a wrecked 2002 automatic DX

But, what if the damaged ring wasnt that bad? You know, i got surprised that the cylinders look fine.
We are going to take the pistons out and we will see. Check this closer pictures:
