no, it just tried to take a cut that was too deep due to user error. i said "cut a lot" when i thought i was saying "cut a little". no tolerance issue, no clearance issue, etc.

i said to cut .06 in the code when i wanted to/thought i did say cut .01.
the tool wasnt exactly a .75" shank kennametal piece either... just an inexpensive indexable holder to do the job. and it would have, if i didnt **** it up

more incremental progress, things are going. one ring was produced today, its roughly .005-.01" off, which is on the lower bound of "not quite good enough". it does stay in the cluster, but not as well as id like. minor revision on the part and hopefully ill wrap up the big one tomorrow.
