Has anyone heard anything about this product and why has it been pushed back? Oh...and will it bolt up to any aftermarket downpipe?

yo raydoh.... is that corksport exhaust turbo back? if it is, how's it run and sound?
It is from the header all the way to the muffler and it is very husky. You can listen to it on the corksport website. They have a sound demonstration.

no, corksport's is NOT a turboback. it bolts to the spring flange just after the j-pipe. i thought they had soundclips/pics on their website? check the exhaust thread too in the performance section though i think the links i posted are the same as the ones listed on their website.

btw, i wouldn't hold your breath on the downpipe....it's been in development for over a year....i seriously doubt it's ever gonna be released.

It's actually been in "development" since a week after I bought my car(Jan of 03). They are kind of a joke. When I got my car, I offered to let them have it for two weeks or so to develop parts for it. They declined, but called me several times to ask if I would design an intake for them and how I thought the best way of making hard pipes was. The only reason they even have the exhaust out is because it was already made for the regular Protege. They will likely never have hard pipes out, and I am sure that they will never have a down pipe. Ben is no longer working there, so they don't even have an MSP to "develop" products on.

Save your money and get GHL. Or buy my CS exhaust and I'll get GHL!

corksport s/j pipe

Corksports has a new picture of the s/j pipe and it looks like it comes in 2 parts. There's no price listed yet and it says it will be out in May. Check the site.

by header i think he means where it connects to the stock S pipe (where on an n/a vehicle the header would end) If they do make the S pipe that would be great, but i wouldnt hold my breathe waiting on corksport, we represent a very small market to them (max.2000 units if everybody with an MS bought on) where as parts for a more common vehicle make more sense to them to create. I am sure they spent alot of time and R and D on the UNICHIP and it sold what like 20 units? (and the unichip IS a good product) so they may be hesitant to release anything else for the MSpro without knowing its worth their time.

exactly, they probably dont put all their time into MSP development because of the lack of income it develops, so they probably just kinda work on stuff occasionally when they have a little spare time, also remember corksport is not a huge corporation like greddy, bosal, etc, they are a 2 guys in a garage type of operation (or at least were last time i knew about it) and probably have real jobs and use this as a fun second job...

either way, i dont like the way the GHL is designed, dont ask me why, but everytime i see it i just dont like it, the updated pictures of the CS design i liked, if it comes out in may, if i have the money i will buy it....

i called and talked to them the other day when i ordered my catback for my msp.
he said that the cold air intake and the downpipe will be released on may 1,05.
he said the expected price will be around $199.
that's all the info i got.
are they a bad company ? or what? someone pm me. i dont want to start anything on the forum

$199 for a complete S pipe relacement sounds like a good price(i hope its 3"), maybe if they sell a bunch they will focus more on ms developement.

no, they are a perfectly fine company, i ordered their power series exhaust and it was shipped to my door in no time flat, exellent quality, exelent chrome finish, i have also ordered MANY things from them in the past for other cars that i have owned, all top notch, all shipped out very fast, i would not hesitate to do business with them...

the only thing people are complaining about is that parts have been in development for so long, which is kind of understandable when you think about the parts not being developed, and how not very many of those units will probably get sold... 199 is a very good price, hell, for that and the intake your only spending a little more than most CAI's alone cose...

awesome, thankx for making things clear. It was just i was reading the exhaust thread and a lot of people dont' seem to be too happy at the moment

ya i noticed that too, luckily they are all P5 guys ;) lol j/k... overall i think the complaints with the P5 guys would have been there no matter what, its a full exhaust that is pretty open, its gonna be loud, i do think the fact that you have to bend an exhaust hanger is a little lame but oh well, that exhausts price tag is considerably cheaper than any other on the market for what you get, so i'm willing to deal with a few minor problems, and it seems like quite a few of them didn't read the warnings before installing it and DIDNT bend the hanger down so the muffler didn't rest on the bumper... regardless, i've had nothing but good experiences with them, and until i do i'll keep plugging their company :D...

thanks for getting an updated date, last i heard it was "sometime in 05" haha, may is a lot better :D...

To clear things up....
Downpipe is the actual term for the part, it replaces both the 'J-Pipe' and 'S-Pipe'. It bolts from the turbo to the cat pipe or exhaust.

The one in development is 2.4", same size as the exhust system they make.
