Cobb AP worth it???

cobb ap is sooo worth it man i have it and i raced an evo the first day i got it i raced an evo that i previously beat by a car then we raced again and i beat him by 3 cars and i shut down still pulling. great mod i would take it over any ecu out there for our cars and there gettign more maps soon and you can make your own maps its ftw

did you race him in a school zone, cuz that would have been awesome.

i have an injen intake and i have a hks cbe with a corksport tp and im running stage 2 maps. and when i get my downpipe and a fmic im gonna put that stage 2 map in and it suppose to increase hp by 17% more cobb ap is worth it i was talkign to a guy at japtrix n his son has a intake and cpe tbe and dynoed at 273 whp then he put cobb ap on and then dynoed at 296 thats a big jump cobb ap has alot of features and m,aps and you can create your own and they will have way more comeing out soon. its win bro.

I will have to dis-agree with the retard filling your head full of steam, AP is crap and over priced

Phil's MS3 with Cp-e stand back made 323whp/341 vs Chris's MS3 with Cobb's AP made 287whp/321 on the dyno challenge.

Both car's have the same mod's

I would put my money on the standback.

yeah cpe chearleading when are they going to realize not everyone wants to hack into there wiring harness and some people don't like the piggyback system of tuning...

laloosh did like 28Xwhp with the AP, then 327whp with SB.

I did 320whp/345TQ with the AP and I have same mods as laloosh basically did except he had all CPE parts and he had exhaust mani.... clearly his AP tune was just way off and I'm sure he planned it/wanted it that way.

This is with the AP, not a custom tune.. beta v103

^^

Impressive numbers with the CPE & AP tuning solutions. I'm curious to know as to why you think laloosh "planned it/wanted it that way." I'm sure he has HIS reasons - is he sponsored by CPE or a CPE distributor?

There's also the question of car to car variability that can account for some of the HP/TQ difference between the 2 cars but 3x odd WHP is quite a large gap for variability I would admit.

in order to run the cobb AP optimally do I have to be using Cobb Parts?

Im running the Cobb SRI and CPE TBE(catted DP). I see there are different maps you can run with a exhaust and intake but is that Cobb specific?

also AP can read CELs right?

AP can read cels. You are fine with those parts. The important things to have are cobb's intake since that is what affects fuel trims the most and a cat in the downpipe

Next question before I plunk down $$$: With Stage 1 103 map increasing boost for Cobb SRI mod, do reliability concerns come into play or can this engine handle that increase in boost since A/F is also fixed with this map?

Anytime you raise the boost you increase the heat and thus lower the overall lifespan of the motor/turbo. It simply is part of the game. However, that may equal 250,000 miles vice 300,000 miles so it's really a non-issue for the most part.

You should have zero reliability issues with the AP as a tune should always be better than no tune at all.

last i heard laloshe is working for CPE and was sponsered by before that. all hearsay... my understanding is the exhaust side is not that inportant as far as cats and no cats...

Thanks for the info. Here's my dyno with cobb sri. Unfortunately no a/f readout. Based on graph am I safe if I don't opt for AP hence no tune?

dynorun 3 = stock with fan on radiatior
dynorun 4 = cobb sri with fan on radiator
dynorun 6 = cobb sri with fan on tmic

My $0.02? No, not worth it. I forget the exact claims, but fourteen hp for $700?! Seems a bit steep.

The OTS/OTB maps are nothing to brag about, I don't think they are all that good actually, they could use some fine tuning... which is exactly why the AP is worth it. It will eventually be able to be tuned with AccessTUNER when it's released.
