Cobb AP worth it???

My $0.02? No, not worth it. I forget the exact claims, but fourteen hp for $700?! Seems a bit steep.

You may not pick up much peak hp, but you will get a lot more hp and torque throughout the entire curve. On a stage 1+ car you will pick up over 50hp up top and 35-50 throughout the curve. Plus your car won't fall on its face at 5500 rpm.

And that is DEFINITELY worth the $700.

Dread, can you substantiate those #s? Not being confrontational in the least, just curious what allows you to quantify like that.

I've experienced what alot of readers come into this thread for, the fact that Cobb's dyno charts and estimated % gains aren't particularly impressive IMHO.

To be fair, I've "chipped" several cars in the past that didn't gain much, #s wise, but were altogether better to drive. It's as if they had an attitude adjustment, they just wanted to go, rev, etc. IE, the #s were not the story, the overall improvment WAS the story. Hard to quantify but definitely worthwhile. So I buy into the fact that it can be worthwhile without showing big#s like the 1.8t and 2.0t FSI guys are experiencing. Those engines being the opposite end of the spectrum where gains are pretty amazing.

And the value added benefits are significant. CEL clear, datalogging, etc. Ultimate tuneability if/when the ATR ever comes around. Seems like good stuff.

The cost....a bitter pill. Then again, when I start comparison shopping the costs of software for other cars I consider worthy/comparable, it's not at all out of line(shocked).
