Clutch or LSD

Ok, so my car is doa @ the moment...
My shop w/o looking @ it is telling me it's the clutch but i'm thinking it's the lsd based on what i've researched. just wanting some outside opinion b/c i'm ordering the part in advance and i'm trying to nail it in one shot.

anyway, i was driving home from my friends house and as soon as i got out of the drive way, the best way i can describe it is, when i tried to accelerate, it felt like the car was slipping in gear. sounds like it'd be the clutch, but there was somewhat of a mild grinding. anyway, i made it to a stop sign, and then the car wouldn't do anything. just felt like i was reving in neutral while i was still in gear. coasted to the side of the road, then towed home. clutch pedal feels fine, and pops right back up like normal. the car cranks, but here's where i'm lost. i can put the car in gear W/O pushing the clutch in, when it's cranked, but it goes nowhere, and when it's in gear, it idles @ around 1500 rpms, but there's no pulling @ all from the clutch. my shop's quoted me @ around 900 (plus the part) for the labor if it's the lsd and about 1000 total for clutch replacement. is it a safe bet to say the lsd's snapped like many others' have? just trying to figure out which to get since i've got to tow the car again from my house to the shop. thanks for input in advance. later.

yea dude. same thing happened to me on sunday. and i took it to the dealer and they said it was the lsd.

yeah, kinda sucks. a guy from s****u***.com says to check if that is the case, you just jack up the front of the car and turn the steering wheel and if the wheels go in opposite directions, then it is indeed the lsd. didn't know it was that simple to check, so i'm doing that today, as soon as i get off work.

hmmm never heard of doing that. Doesnt really make scents to me. But whatever, let us know if that works. And I would deff recomend the welded diff from protegegarage

yeah, not sure if the guy knew what he was talking about... i did just as he told me, and umm... both wheels were turning in unison. ghey. i'm still going w/ the lsd and hope that's what it is. i just don't wanna pay for the part and have them take apart my transmission only to find out that isn't what's wrong. guess time will tell.

i dont know but i bet he is saying spin the tire with your hand im sure. because spinning the tire if the other tire does not spin then the lsd would be bad. the way i checked was i got the car off the ground and i got ahold of one wheel and my dad got ahold of the other wheel and my wheel would spin and his offered very little resistance. but i dont know maybe someone else can tell you for sure. i could also be wrong
