Cel - P0171 !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah if you keep getting it check your vac lines. I kept getting it because I needed a new wga.
If I had the stock wastegate that would be my prime suspect but I replaced it with the ATP wastegate actuator back in September last year. My only though is that maybe the connection between the intake manifold and the head is bad. I was not getting this CEL under I swapped intake manifolds (traded one 626 IM for another) so it would appear to be something with that. However, boost and vacuum seem normal as ever so it would appear as it there weren't any vacuum leaks.

I've been fighting this "phantom" problem myself for the past six months or so, exploring all the standard avenues that searching this forum turn up. I finally gave it up and took it to the dealer. They said that my PCM (powertrain control module) needed the latest calibration.

To quote my service record/bill:
"15MZA02 NECESSARY TO UPDATE PCM WITH LATEST CALIBRATION. 7981 GROGGINS,CLYDE LIC#M175915 C 1.00"

So basically they said it needed a computer flash. Sound bogus to anyone? Just got it done today, I'll let you know how it turns out.

btw - I'm running completely stock with 58,000 miles, all original 02's, MAF, etc.
