Car Jerking

I fully intend to buy the Turbohoses hard pipe kit with my next paycheck. I'm sure that my stock plastic pipes could be leaking due to the fact I have 120k on the clock.

Do a fmic kit, it solves a lot of problems in one kit. The stock plastic pipes are crap, the interwarmer is what it is, the plastic pipes have leaks and break. Don't hesitate just do it.

well it looks like Ill be upgradng the brakes and possibly a front mount soon...

hey new here(hi), i have the same problem on my stock msp the hesitation is around the beginning of the 3k rpm up to 4k, the hesitation lessens when i brought the boost back down from arnd 5 to maybe 1psi, i've heard its the fuel cut and the ecu reflash could help but i also heard the reflash is no good if you plan on increasing the boost....hella confusing...tempted to reflash it since i'm not getting the fmic any time soon...

My car has the flash and it is still doing it. but 1psi... does your car have any power at all? I was at factory like 6psi at 184whp and last time I dynoed at 4psi i was only getting like 160whp and my car was so slugish and I was still hitting fuel cut sometimes so who knos maybe e all need to atleast upgrade to hard pipes... or just go full in and get the front mount

I couldnt think why the front mount would possiblty be shity...the side mounts are small and in a bad location. Ive herd and seen the fmic kit being a great upgrade over the small smic

Just ordered the street unit hard pipe kit with a greddy flange. I'll let you guys know if it makes any difference.

So once u relocated the Maf to the Coldpipe u werent getting hesitation? Hmm. Thats interesting.

This questions and problem have been floating around this forum for at least 6 years and I have yet to hear about a definitive solution, its all just hear say.

Ive only had my msp for a few years but from what Ive heard everyone has the same problem...and I feel the same as you do I guess different things work for different cars. I had the jerking with stock intake. then i got my cai and it went away for probly a year and now that i have put a little more boost in Im having the same problem. so i guess we start with intake then hard pipes then if it doesnt go away maybe a tune...? who knows

I've been reading a bit about the MAF relocation, and it seems like most everyone who has relocated the MAF near the TB has had their hesitation and fuel cut problems go away.

However, I don't really feel like cutting my new Street Unit pipes unless I really have to, and I'm most likely going to vent to atmosphere with the Greddy Type S I bought today, so I'm going to run a dual BPV setup as shown here to prevent my car from stalling http://www.msprotege.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4774695&postcount=9 . If the fuel cut/hesitation issues don't stop, I'll just bite the bullet and cut the pipes.

I was also wondering if anyone with the Injen intake has had the fuel cut issue go away after installing it, because I plan on buying one pretty soon. Maybe the removal of all the stock plastic pipes (hot pipe, cold pipe, intake) helped to remedy the problem. I figure that if relocating the MAF sensor makes the fuel cut problem go away, there must be a common boost leak somewhere in the stock piping.

Sorry for the wall of text, I'm just trying to get this thing fixed because it's annoying as hell and it would be pretty cool to help out my fellow MSP owners as well. (nana)

I had the same hesitation develop as everyone else did, even after the ECM reflash.
So what does that tell me? First, if it was an ECM *problem*, it would have occurred the day I drove the car off the lot; but since it developed a year or two later, that tells me its probably an air leak that developed. Second, the reflash absolutely did help; the car was almost undriveable before, and now afterwards - with careful throttle control - I can avoid the hesitation/jerking almost all the time. BUT the reflash was a partial band-aid on another problem, and not a solution; the leak probably still exists, and thats why it still happens.

SO, to answer to your question, heckaTIGHTis, ... I ordered the Injen cold air intake, and will install it when i get it in a week or two... and then will let you know here what happens.. so stay 'tuned'...

today was the mazda dyno day in PA. car ran terrible. had to take off the boost controler and go back to stock. very low numbers. but getting back to the jerking... i found possibly my poblem. the hotside intake tube from the turbo to smic. where the bypass valve connects is broken... I bumped it myself and it fell completely off so I guess a double or even tripple check for leaks is a good idea... right now its glued back on just to get me home from the dyno and gona order hard pipes right now anyone have any good sites for them or the best ones?

Damn, that sucks :(. I ordered the Street Unit ones over a week ago and they still haven't shipped them out..kinds sucks but oh well. I was going to order the turbohoses kit but it didn't have a flange for the bov.

Also, for the last few days the turbo has been super loud when it spools up. It definitely sounds like a leak in one of the pipes, but I haven't bothered to check it since I have new pipes on the way anyways. I've also been having the engine die on me a lot. I have to make sure the revs are pretty low, like 1200, before I put the clutch in when I stop or else the engine will stall out.

MSP ownership sure is interesting (wink)(lol2)

I had the same problem, and just finished replacing the WGA, fuel pump, and finally spark plugs. All were bad, and now the car is running 98% great! Mild hesitation under full throttle acceleration, but not very bad. Thinking about doing the reflash, but not sure if it's worth it while everything is going well. I plan on cleaning the MAF and EGR just because it hasn't been done in awhile as well.

The spark plugs were a way bigger improvement than I expected too. Fairly cheap @$35 for the set, but man, what a difference!

ok so that pipe didnt hole from the dyno day repair... so now I have a full leak in my hot pipe... and to be honest the car may run a little better... the only thing that has really changed is it will almost stall at idle but thats it no engine light no nothing... so im starting to think if a leak was my problem... I mean if the leak gets bigger I would think the problem would show itself more also.
but reguardless my front mount is on its way

My hard pipes are still backordered.. I'm going to change my plugs tomorrow. Any recommendations for stock boost? Platinum vs copper vs iridium?
