Brake squeaking

Guys, I need some help :p

I change my front brake pad to Axxis brake pad with the OEM rotor. It is squeaking right now. I took out both clips that hold the brake pad when I installed it. Do you think that is the problem ? Because looks like to me, the clip is used only for the guardian when you put your brake pad.

Thanks guys

You only need to machine the rotors if they were warped. If you did not install those clips, it *may* be your problem. Those clips hold the side of the pads in. If you did not use them the pad might have worn unevenly. Take off the wheel and unbolt the caliper and check the inside pad for uneven wear. More than likely thats what happened.

not true. after any use of brake pads there is a glazing on the service of the rotor. that glazing is from the pads. if you change pads without machining the rotor ever so slightly, 1. you wont get maximum benefit out of new pads and, 2. you'll probably get some sort of brake squeaking

for maximum braking ability you must always machine the rotors on a brake pad change

That makes sense. First, I will try to put my clips back. If it is still squeaking then I will machine my rotor or I will just get a new rotor :)

I know Powerslot, EBC, and KVR make rotor for P5. Which one do you guys suggest ? I used Brembo cross drilled rotor before but I don't quite like it so I switched back to OEM rotor. I prefer slotted rotor

i've heard the powerslot slotted rotors are pretty good.

yes the manual does say that, but that's to save time for the dealers.

i strongly recommend machining the rotors ever so slightly or sanding them (less preferred option) in between pad changes for maximum braking force

Yea, I second resurfacing the rotors. It's amazing how much a glazed rotor will effect braking performance....especially on a wet brake rotor.

Yup, got to either get new rotors or have them machined. I say always go new, OEM ones are not that expensive.
I did a lot of asking around before I changed the front brakes on my Integra. The general consesus is: all those fancy rotors don't do a damn thing unless you autocross or drive and brake your car SUPER hard.
The suggestion by most (and what I ended up doing) was going with a nice pad (akebono pro) and Brembo blanks. You can get blanks for $30 or so each. Don't spend all that money on slotted or cross drilled unless you drive hard or just like to look like you drive hard. :)
