BOOM again !

so yeah ... i was almost done tuning it and just fixed a battery problem and installed an apexi grounding kit and went for a little drive to see how it felt.

i drove around the block twice. on the 2nd pass, on my way back home, i floored it in 2nd gear at 2500rpm and hit around 16 to 18psi and wooooooooo big grinding noise, rpm went up the roof ... car doesnt move anymore.

i can go at like 2km/h if i let the clutch go a bit in 1st gear, but nothing else works. i dont think i blew a gear(s) because 1st/2nd/3rd/4th make the same noise ... cant be forks or anythinglike that .... what do you guys think? my other guess is the differential went

how much is that? and any of you (if that is in fact the problem) have one or know of someone who has one for sale? i will need one ASAP i cant go without the car for too long anymore ... been 2 years, I WANT MY CAR !

how much is that?

The LSD from mazda is about 735$ or so. Then you could expect to pay a shop around $1000 to take the tranny out disassemble it and put it back together and in.

i'll probably try to take out the tranny myself. Focus can rebuild so i can ask him to show me how to take it appart and learn at the same time

That sucks, get a welded one from Protegegarage. It'll probably be less expensive than a new one from the dealer if that is your problem. It doesn't sound like your engine went, so its either the differential, or you seriously shredded some gears...

i dont see how i could have shredded all gears at the same time lol

unless i broke the final gear? is that possible?

the engine sounds ok. it revs just as good as before. and the car can move in 1st gear but will make grinding noises if i try to go above 5km/h

i'll try to convince my dealership to warranty the lsd 1st

I might not have an LSD but from what i've read and heard from other members, it sounds like an LSD issue. Jeph is right, go with a welded LSD it's much cheaper and MUCH stonger. Both CWILL and SUPERPROTEGE are running one with no problems.

i'm definetely gona have the next lsd welded. even if my dealer changes it under warranty, i'll take the tranny appart at home and bring the lsd to someone who can weld it

if mazda doesnt wana do anything, Turfburn gave me a price on an lsd and will weld it for me so i'll go with him.

the guy said that as long as there's no signs of abuse on the forks or gears in the transmission, there are no reasons why he wouldnt fix it.

MAYBE i'll get out of this one without it costing me too much lol

I wonder if I can purchase a Mazdaspeed through them? the closest MS dealer in the USA is over 3 hours away, Montreal is less than an hour....

i just got a call 5mins ago from my dealership ... they're gona fix it !!!!

the guy said that as long as there's no signs of abuse on the forks or gears in the transmission, there are no reasons why he wouldnt fix it.

MAYBE i'll get out of this one without it costing me too much lol

hmmm ... i didnt buy mine from a MAzdaspeed dealer. they had Mazdaspeed proteges at every mazda dealer around here.

The dealer i'm dealing with is Albi Mazda in Mascouche (bout 25mins away from Montreal, close to where the 25 and the 640 cross).

Where do you live?

well nothing yet. he just said that they were gona look at it and open the tranny and if there's no big sign of abuse on the gears and forks mazda canada will agree to replace the lsd

So what was the diagnosis?.....

yeah i can't wait ... i hope the rest of the transmission still looks pretty good ... i mean, i've been boosting over 15psi for a little while, went through a blown engine and a melted set of forged pistons ... i hope it didnt affect the tranny too much.

my car's been at the shop longer than i've had it in my possession. i've been really careful with the transmission though, shifting carefully n stuff ... i am pretty confident that they won't find anything bad in there
