Autocross star is born!

Good job! I f I were you I would race on streets for a year first before getting R compounds, or get the Falkens and stay in the road tire classes. But I do think the MSP can be a very competative car in DS on R-compounds, just remember that you cannot use these tires in STS/STX (whichever the MSP falls under) My first year (last year) I ran my Audi 4000 on streets in STS, it was competative and I learned a lot, but this year I switched to a FWD car on R-compounds and it's a BIG difference, last year I didn't have to worry about when to get on the gas, since I had quattro I could get on it early and power out (not that the car's 115hp did a lot of powering anything :) ) This year I have been apexing too late and not using my brakes enough, so I'm losing time and speed in the corners, I have to relearn everything. You showed consistant improvement in your times and that is a good sign, just remember if you aren't hitting cones, you aren't going fast enough :) I have been averaging 1 cone per event, the last event I got sideways and wiped out 3 on my first run. Have fun!

I didn;t mean I drug you out kicking and screaming....you were most excited about it. :D

and DAMN the handicaps!!!
My best run was still faster...:p Unless you were mistaken about the time on your best run. (dunno)

BTW, did they post the results yet? I can't view the page cux I don't have some java mahcine or whatever...

S/Cp5someday--next YEAR? why wait so long? while you can get the experience in your rookie year, then bust it out by next year! :)

Mazdaspeedgirl -

I see you are from KY. Where did you autox? This is my first year autocrossing too. I have done 4 events this year. I wish there were a few more women there but it's more fun to beat the guys and watch their shame.

LMAO! Damn Kristi! Brutal, aren't you? ;) :p

This last event was here in Louisville with KYSCCA at the UPS site. I'd like to participate in as many autocrosses as possible, but have to find out how I go about it. :D

You may want to look at the Cincy region. They race in Sparta, KY behind the grandstand at the speedway. I raced there once this year and it was pretty good. I did horrible that day but it was my second autox and I only had about 2 hours driving a stick. It had a log straight where everyone was hitting 3rd gear.

Here is their site: http://www.cincyscca.com

They have an event on June 1. You can pre-pregister at www.myautoevents.com.

The MSP has turbo and an LSD, so it goes into STX, and is NOT STS legal.

I'll second the 1 year on streets recommendation. Here in SFR, they make it easy: most people run in NOVICE class their first year, and no r-tires are allowed in N...

There is a limit to 'if you're not hitting cones, you're not going fast enough': one of my friends out here has gone TOO far in that way: He used be WWAAYY clear of every cone, but now he averages ONE CONE PER RUN!!!!! DON'T GO THAT FAR!!!!

It's nearly two weeks away. It's not Memorial Day weekend...it's the next weekend. I am planning on going to a Western Ohio special event in Indiana that day. If that event falls through for me, then I will be at the Cincy event. www.myautoevents.com is a great way to find upcoming events. Here is another link for you that will help find events in your region and regions near you.

Thanx! And it is TOTALLY addicting! The adrenaline rush from my first run was better than any drag racing or even sex that I've ever had! well, maybe not sex...:D

Oh, and if I am seeing this right, your avatar depicts my (streetable) race tire of choice. I have the Azenis on my track wheels. (thumb)

i agree, sex and racing is definetely a neck and neck race......

that is most definetely an Azenis. I find it hard to swap back to my Kumho street tires, i usually take a week, oh and the fact i get lazy....

BTW, the front emblem/logo decals, it's changed to "Mazdaspeed" now :) But the car looks very nice.

just out of curiosity, how much does the hitch weigh?
