Not the one that's 9lbs for $455 or so, but the stock on from the Japanese verison's that are a few lbs lighter. I saw that corksport has them for $172 and want to know if anyone has one and how they like it.
basically weather it's worth it or not

yeah but this is the stock one that is a few lbs lighter.
i wouldn't want a 7lb flywheel that's too light for everyday driving

i use the jspec one a a few cars here at the shop it works great and gives you a 4lb drop on your flywheel weight, it will rev a little quicker with out the problems that a 7.5lb one. I sell them for $170 if you need it- chris @ spd racing

I've been running the Unorthodox Racing one for almost a year now (along w/ their clutch). Theirs is 9lbs I believe. I'd definitely recommend one.

I've also sold quite a few Spec aluminum flywheels (even a few Protege guys). Where's Matty at!? They sold what they made apparently, but might be making more.

I want to say 8 or 9lbs, but I don't know for sure. I recently took it off our website when I heard they were no longer available.

No longer available? whys that?

I have a PR5 and had the Fidanza lightweight flywheel installed last june (7.5 Lbs) i believe. Not much in gains besides the quicker engine response.....have to adjust your driving to get used to the fact that the RPM's fall much quicker when shifting......

For a FI engine, it might benefit from the initial turbo lag (get the turbo spooling quicker), but you will loose boost when you shifting due to RPM's falling fast.....???

I daily drive my car and am pretty easy on it most of the time. I have no drivability issues due to the flywheel. The RPM level does not drastically drop during a shift (even normal city shifting).

The AWR motor mounts and 6puck race clutch create more drivability issues than the flywheel.

I think I would get pissed off having to rev the crap out of it just to get it moving. Drove an MSP with a Fidanza and had to rev mucho.

I hear that you just have to addapt your driving habbits.

What kind of results are you looking for?

I posted my experience with running the 9lb one on my MSP over the past year.

i would just be looking for it to rev a little bit faster. there isn't much else u can get out of a flywheel right.
I'm just trying to decide if $172 is worth fee'ing up a few ponies

Bump! was wondering the same thing. Im not looking for a 7 or 9lb flywheel but would a few lbs lighter then stock be worth it?

i don't think its worth it to be honest. I really don't htink much gain is to be had taking out a flywheel. my friend has a lightweight one in his GTi VR6, turbo'd it and now its a b**** to drive... have to shift fast, make sure you downshift to stop etc.
