Airless tires

sweet, i wonder how well they grip, or how much they weigh in comparison to regular wheels.

One question.. The speaker says the new tires will be less effected by speed bumps, pot holes and less prone to damage. If these go mainstream eventually, which they may once cost drops, I wonder how they are to be defeated in pursuits? Spike strips will no longer work...

have to switch to electronic immobilization. Don't they already have some emp guns that fry car electronics for this purpose?

wo those are pretty neat.. but they look ridiculous. What would happen if someone wanted to pop your tire now? Would they cut those strips in between the wheel? I can see people sticking stuff in between them just to mess with someone..

Not to my knowledge. I know that the ones shown in a certain racing movie are fake... They did prototype a device that would go under the car with robotics and remote control that could cut wires, but that's waaaaaaaaaay too complicated for your everyday pursuit.

what happens when you rub a curb .... ie, curb rash..... what happens to the tire?
There's nothing on the side.. At the most, you'd scuff the outer edge but after watching the video a few times, they appear to be very hard.. *shrug*

I think the compound is really different now, and also you don't have to worry about having the right pressure all the tiem and stuff like that.

Er, i was responding to the comment about how long they last.

that's cool, but it still needs a sidewall, it's weird that u can se trhough it

i'd bet they'd cover at least one of the sidewalls if they went into production to prevent the aforementioned s*** getting stuck in them

There was some high voltage discharge immobilizers, but they are still being tested and aren't that effective.
