ABS light problem

I have a strange problem with the ABS light on my P5. When starting the car, regardless of temp, the ABS warning light comes on. I have a 5sp, so when I'm moving, I turn the car off and then jump the car back on and the light will stay off until I restart the car again. Wondering if anyone else has encountered this?

I'm thinking it might be a code stored in the ECU that turns the light on when started with the key, or possible a bad connection at one of the sensor connectors, but the jump start, light stays off, has me wondering what is going on.

I have tested the brakes with the light on and there is not ABS, full wheel lock-up. With the jump, no ABS light, full ABS!? Any direction would be appreciated!

I thought about a sensor being bad, but that usually involves the PB light being on as well and the jump start has me baffled as if the sensor is bad, shouldn't it stay on all the time??

the brake fluid light is the same as the ebrake....

you might have a bad sensor....i heard some one talking about jumping a wire and it makes the light flash the code to tell you what's wrong...it's probably a bad abs sensor on a wheel

I thought that the ABS & E brake light lit for a bad sensor, not the ABS light alone...

not that i know or have read...abs is a different system and not std on all models.....so it wouldn't be linked

It is linked to these lights when a wheel ABS sensor is bad. I replaced a rear sensor when both lights were on 2 years ago.

HFXprotege5... I have this exact same promblem right now, with both lights on. I have had it to 2 different shops, and no one seems to know what the problem is, although I did have my rear calipers replaced and all new rotors and pads. How much did it cost for you to get this fixed? And did that fix the problem until this recent ABS light issue? Thanks!

haha, that's what i did for my cel and seat belt light, they got annoying after awhile... so out they go!

The code can be read to setermine which sensor is bad. I had it done by Maxda for free (code diagnostics) through a connection. I think the total bill was about $200 CDN with about $130-150 of that being the cost of he part.

I'm going to reset the CECU to see if this soves the problem and I'll let everyone know. My connection no longer works for Mazda, but I now have an in for my Nissan ;)
