actually i disagree with you here man.... I go along with the "well YOU never specified how high the water has to be" basically making it your fault this happened. As I'm sure most guys find themselves thinking "wait... how the hell was this my fault?"
Just to let you guys know not all women are bad drivers...my ex..Siberiankiss on these boards drives a Yellow Mazdaspeed Protege, and races a TaG 125cc Go-kart in the Southwest Regional Cup. She is currently tied for second in the points out of 25 people, she is the only chick. She is ranked 54th something in the nation I think?. Honestly don't think there is anyone I trust more to drive my Speed 3. She is probably a better driver than 90% of you guys, can heel and toe better than anyone I know except me (but i taught her) and I KNOW she could probably spank ALL of you on a track. We are currently working on getting her a ride in the MX-5 Cup next year a televised series...
Just saying...not ALL women are bad drivers...

Geesh, it is a car. I would be more worried about my wife not the car. She had to get home. Did you volunteer or were you waiting for her out front in the Big Foot monster truck to give her a ride home? She probably had no way of knowing and no other route once she was committed. And if a wave bounced her over then some other A hole probably went screaming thru the high water in an SUV or something and that is what caused the problem. 2 inches of water isnt going to kill your car especially if you have already removed the carpet and are replacing it. Actually be thankful, Mazda carpet sucks, now you can get some nice floor carpet.

This also has nothing to do with skill but common sense to evaluate road conditions as you are driving. Track skills are irrelevant. However, in Womens defense, I have only seen guys posting up they drove through water and got hydro, havent seen a women yet.

to the O.P: I'm sure you were pissed because your car was ruined, but you gotta also consider that she had to go home in any case....the conditions of the roads she chose were likely unforsee-able before she got there, I highly doubt that anyone in their right mind would purposely choose a road that is waterlogged and the fact that she is a woman doesn't change that...she also called upset because it happened, which assumes it was an accident
I'm not saying you shouldn't be pissed about your car getting soaked and the possible damage thats there...I would be just as pissed about that, but I wouldn't be holding her so accountable and wouldn't be throwing it up like she purposely did this to your car

as another defense of myself, i live in houston and the same night my street flooded... was pissing down rain when i was driving home. when i got onto my street, noticed there was water covering the road, only about 2-3 in where i was and immediately stopped and evaluated. oh wow. there's water over the curbs down there. i'm guessing my car + cai would not get along with that. so i backed down the street, tried going around to the back street to get to my house from the other direction and it was flooded too... oh wow. that looks like water on the road. don't think that's going to work... anyway, i'm not an idiot and decided parking my car down the street and walking to my house was a better option... water went down about an hour later and i brought her home.

My wife taught me how to drive stick! She even drove my MS3 home from the dealership with me as a passenger because I had no clue how to drive it.
Now, the way she drives her Civic Si scares the ever loving crap out of me. Her initials are R.E.V. and that's pretty indicative of how she drives. Si's have a flashing shift light at 8,000 rpm... I can attest to that!

bulls***, I shouldn't have to tell anyone not to drive my car in high enough water that a wave will lift the vehicle. That is common ******* sense.
tell that to the lady she'll win i guarantee it.

Well it is in the shop as of this am......275$ for the fix..not a bad deal..considering the alternative could have been alot worse..Should get my car back on Mon/Tuesday (cabpatch)

Why are their insurance rates lower than ours? Trust me for every silly woman driver there are stupid boy racer drivers that make wayyyy dumber mistakes, that usually end up killing or maiming someone...

No s*** huh, I hope he didn't scold her too hard like a dog or something. As dumb as it may have been for her to drive through it, I still value my marraige more than my vehicle.

Regardless of the gender of the driver in this story, it was a mistake that could have been avoided. How deep do you think water would have to be to have a wave lift the car?
