My CX-5 wouldn't start yesterday! *Happy ending

My 2021 just went "uruhhhh" but wouldn't start yesterday! It was a little confusing because when I put it on a charger my wife was able to start it once, but not a second time, and later I tried to start it and got some error messages, but next day I was able to jump start the car and drive to the dealer where they replaced my battery under warranty.... the warranty that expires in exactly 2 weeks! And the replacement battery has its own 1 year warranty that outlives our new car 3yr/30k mile warranty. I am just a little concerned that we are on our 3rd battery. Dealer replaced the original one at our first service appointment because it was reading low even though we didn't notice any problem.

If you're on your third battery in a 2021 CX, something aint right.

Was the charging system tested? Can you test it yourself?

If you have a multimeter check the voltage at the battery before starting the car. It should read between 12.5 and 13vdc. Now start the car. After a moment or two the reading should be over 14vdc. If it's not, you have a problem with the charging system, most likely the alternator.

OR a poor ground as from battery to ground. Remove, clean and replace each ground.
This is something that should have been done when the battery was replaced.

shoulda woulda coulda

By any chance, do you have a flash drive plugged in ?

You're thinking that the flash drive is sucking up the amps with the car turned off?

I have two Mazdas, an MX and a CX, both 2016's.

In each car, I have two flash drives plugged in and they stay plugged in 24/7/365. I have never had a battery issue. In fact, both cars still have the original batteries in use with zero issues thus far.

nothing plugged in. I will ask the dealer to take a look when I bring the car back tomorrow for inspection. They couldn't do the inspection after a battery change because all the codes are wiped out. I had to drive the car for a while before they could do the inspection. I didn't even know state inspections were complimentary. Spent $40 on it last year.

Me too, two cars, two flashdrives, zero battery problems.
