This newest addition, a 2025 PHEV Premium Plus with a jet black mica exterior and red leather interior is our daughter's new DD. This is her first car that is all hers. In the past she got my 2002 P5, wife's 2010 Mazda3 and then 2019 Jeep Compass as hand me downs. The former two are long gone and we traded the Jeep in towards the CX-70.

She is ecstatic and so far loves everything about the CX-70. She is still getting used to the command knob but I told her that it will become second nature and she has the ability to use the touchscreen when using CarPlay if she chooses. I tried to suggest a CX-30 but she has ridden in her Aunt's and felt the cabin was too small. She likes the CX-5 (we have had two) but wanted something bigger and is not a fan of the CX-50 (mom's current DD). After test driving the CX-70, she said it did not feel as big as it is behind the wheel, loved the ride, the seating and that the interior control placements were perfect (for her).

This is our first foray into the electric side of cars and we are both learning. She works close to home so a full charge should be more than enough for her daily needs. Going to look into what is involved with adding a Level 2 charging system to the house and then decide if it is worth doing now or waiting until all cars are flying EVs. Our first time charging it, we found out how to dis-engage the cable lock. I pushed the button but the cable would not come out. After several attempts and too afraid to exert any more force, I consulted Google. This is where I found the nifty little release under the plastic storage panel in the cargo area. I am not sure why it locked and hope that it doesn't do it every time as it will become a royal PITA to have to access the release.

Not sure how often I will ever see the keys but I will ask for her insights periodically.

On to the pics, I present to you Meleys, the Red Queen....

The rims on the CX-70 look fantastically well suited to the car. I am excited to see if Mazda will make a sedan version of their newest RWD-based chassis.

Congratulations !
We have the same color but mine is the mild hybrid.
I noticed that the front bottom spoiler is silver whereas it’s glossy black on mine.
Not a negative comparison but all car manufacturers have a way of extracting more
money from buyers 🤔

Agreed! But being a little biased, I have always liked most of Mazda's OEM wheel choices. The EZ-6 just hit the Chinese market and is RWD. But the question is, will Mazda import it to the US? While I am not in the market for a PHEV/EV sedan, I hope that they do as I think it could take some market share from the competitors especially if they can keep the pricing in the range I have seen reported which is low to high 20's.
Congratulations! Love the color combo...You truly are a Mazda Family...Love it!
Thank you! Yes, it is a classic combo and my daughter fell in love with it on sight. Yep and not pictured is our son's 2008 Mazda3. We brought our first Mazda home in 2006, a 2002 Protege5, and since that time, we have owned 10 more. Four of which are currently in the driveway. Out of the 11, all were pretty reliable, basic maintenance needs and/or parts that just wore due to age/mileage. We won't include the P5 engine replacement which was entirely my fault. ;) haha The reliability plus the driving factor is what keeps us coming back.
Congratulations !

Thank you and nice choice! ;) Yes, the 'bright' front and rear lower bumper trim is standard on both PHEV trims. You must have the S Premium or S Premium Plus trim as the bumper trim is body colored, in your case, jet black mica. Or you could think of it this way, for the extra money you paid, Mazda rewarded you with body colored garnish. :D

Forgot to mention in my first post that her CX-70 came with the destination set which includes black crossbars (promptly removed and stored), retractable cargo cover, cargo net and first aid kit. Also included were a pair of cargo blocks which are actually very nice (we have a pair in the CX-50 that we use a lot) and black lugs/locks.

I also took a look through the manual and figured out how to dis-engage the charging cable lock. Nice to know that you can lock it so the cable cannot be removed/stolen.

Over the weekend she found her first nit-pick. Turns out that you cannot use the steering wheel controls to cycle through SiriusXM channels. However she does appreciate the LED lighting when driving at night and that all of the HVAC controls have manual buttons. The heated seats and steering wheel in her Jeep were activated/de-activated using the touch screen. This really annoyed her last winter when her radio screen went black and it took almost a month before we could get it in and have the radio replaced under warranty.

Yesterday, I got a phone call that she heard a hissing noise when she got back to work from lunch. It was coming from the DS rear so I knew exactly what it was and she confirmed when she said "yep, I see it". So I left work hoping I could get there in time to drive it to the tire shop to get it looked at. That failed as the tire was at 8psi when I arrived. So there I was in the parking lot swapping the spare on. When I pulled the tire off I found a metal object, not even sure what it is or came from along with a nail. I wasn't optimistic and thought the kid is going to be buying a new tire and she hasn't had the car for two weeks. Thankfully, the shop was able to plug it! The nail never punctured the tire and one end of the other object did not either. A sigh of relief was had by us both. I then drove home and swapped the tire back on for her. I showed her how to check the PSI using the infotainment and told her to check it everyday for the next few days.

It must be a Mazda/female thing in our household? I don't recall the last time I had a 'flat' due to a foreign object, our son never has and our daughter never did in the Jeep. My wife ran over a screw with the CX-50 a few months into ownership, a nail in her 2020 CX-5 and IIRC her 2016.5 CX-5 she picked up nails in two tires at the same time or maybe that was the Jetta...

I read Mazda recommends donut spare be used only in front and to swap a good front tire to the rear.
Weird 🤔

Three more stock spares and she'd be rolling in style
Hahaha, too funny as I said the same thing to the security guard when he walked over to check things out. We both got a good laugh.

Yeah, due to the AWD being RWD bias. I knew I wasn't going far, the drive from her work to the tire store and then back home was approx. six miles with speeds of 25mph to 35mph thru town. If I needed to drive the highway or she needed to keep the spare on while waiting for a new tire, I would have swapped it to the front axle.

Today, I will be stopping at the dealer to get a set of black lugs to replace the locks. I hate those damn things and planned on buying a set lugs to replace them anyway. I just never thought that I'd be dealing with the locks in this scenario this soon.

Replaced the pesky wheel locks today. Stored the locks and key in the garage with the OEM carpet floor mats. A couple of weeks ago, we swapped those out for the OEM all weather mats.

Congrats on the new CX-70!

I came close to the PHEV except I live in an apartment. Also, it was kind of tempting to get the higher output CX-70 even though it requires 93 octane gas.
