We recently purchased a 2021 CX-9 Grand Touring. It came with wired CarPlay, which works just fine. I got tired of having to plug my phone in, and then unplug it each time I got in and out of the car. So I purchased a generic wireless adapter, which worked great for about four months.
Then, about a couple of weeks ago, the device, even though it was connected to my wife's iPhone 12, would not connect to the Mazda media screen. My iPhone 12 still worked with the system. Since my wife drives this car infrequently, she just plugged her phone in to use CarPlay. Then, last week, the same thing happened to my phone. Tried multiple different things, and decided maybe the adapter had gone bad.
Ordered a different wireless adapter, and got the same results. Recognized both phones, but no CarPlay access to the media screen. After trying even more setting changes in the Mazda settings, finally got the new device to work properly. This at least told me that the issue was Mazda related, not the devices, or our phones. Since the new device was more expensive, I went back to the original wireless device and it is working just fine again. The problem now is, I don't remember what the last change I made was that corrected the problem
My question is: has anyone else experienced this same situation, and what setting changes did you make to correct the problem? I didn't write down the changes I made, so if something changes in the Mazda settings, I won't have to try multiple changes to find the right one.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Also, I am totally happy with the Mazda. Have put almost 10,000 miles on the Mazda, and much prefer it over my wife's car. Back in 2023, we bought a new Audi Q5, instead of a Mazda. Have had nothing but problems with the tech in the Audi, and several mechanical issues, fortunately all under warranty.
