Got in an accident with my 3 the other day...:'(

some guy decided to get out of the HOV lane out of no where and hit me on the back driver side, spun me out and i hit the wall going 60. i was pissed he tried to run because apparently he had no papers. (no)

The damage is worse than it looks. i need a new hood, new bumper, new bumper skirt, headlights (clips are broken), both fenders (one may be salvageable). Then... the core support is finished, and the frame is very slightly bent. windshield washer fluid bottle was crushed at impact. I'd say its pretty bad


i was in the left lane of a 4 lane rd, and another guy was turning left off of a side street, and i went to merge right to pass someone in front of me, and boom. He says his light was green, and I say mine was green. regardless he turned left into the right most lane, which is improper.Thats a really shortened version of it, but that sums it up. the other guy was a 65+ year old retired navy vet, and I am a 20 year old male, who is a college kid. regardless of who is actually at fault, who do you think was cited?

insurance covering your damages ??? dont think thats all u should check out you radiator support (could be bent or broken) and your mounts

i know nothing about body repairs and such, so what i listed is just the short list of things given to me by a good friend that does autobody. im still working through the insurance companies, the courts, the police, and my attorney so i don't know for sure who is going to pay, but i dont know how long I want to wait to get it repaired... if you see the pictures from the first post, the hood is all screwed up, and it was since opened, so now it wont completely latch, so I cant take it on the highway. Also, if you look at the 2nd picture, you can see how the fender is damaged, and how it sits by the door. the way its sitting right now, If i open the passenger door, the door will be destroyed on top of everything else, so i may just choose to take the quicker route of paying for the repairs myself.

well since i just turned 18 my insurance didnt cover my damages i had to pay out of my own pocket and in was roughly 3k if could be more or less for you tho, if u are planning to do the repairs your self i know of a place were u can get you parts for cheap ( non OEM ) but i would suggest your insurance taking a look at your car first tho.

well im working through insurance companies right now, but im not sure how that will turn out for me, and since i dont carry collision (no loan or lien on the car) i may have to pay out of pocket as well. its a shame that they just assume that if you're young (im 20) that you're automatically at fault. i have a good friend that owns a body shop though, so i can get everything done for pretty cheap.

wow well yea man hopefully everything turns out for you, am getting mine back tomorrow so am very exited haha its been in the shop for a couple of weeks now so am ready to get her back, just make sure to look into alot of the small details because those are the pricey ones in the long run. look in the bright side u can go ahead and throw some fresh new paint lol

just got my car back from the body shop and thought i'd post some before and after pics...

I wouldnt have considered her dead by any means...she kinda looked like she got in a bar fight, but dead is a little extreme.

I didnt even consider mine dead when she was rammed (actually dakota'd) from behind and I hit the car in front of me (front frama damage as well).

no she was bruised up a bit, but far from dead...now yours was much much worse than mine

Yeah they can do marvels nowadays.

Ive worked in the frame repair business for a few years back in Ky, other than the paint not being 100% perfect (a few specs here and there happen) you CAN actually make cars back to their original state if not better if done right. The people that say "Itll never be the same" I hate to listen to. Sometimes they are right..but in my case..I got a new coat of paint to a paint job that had some dings\scratches beforehand, and things get welded all the way across instead of just spot welds so Im not worried.

PS what do you think of the "beautiful Ohio" plates that you have, I had to get the new kind for the wife's mazda5 and I laughed because I dont know a single damn thing thats beautiful in ohio.
