2016 CX9 Owners Thread

just read about new updates for the 2017 Mazda 6....interestingly:
"A new steering wheel is borrowed from the 2016 Mazda CX-9, and a heated steering wheel is a new option. Gauges are easier to read, and a new interior package features Nappa leather."

too bad that "borrowed" CX-9 steering wheel does not have a heated option in the CX-9 (at least in the US version).

That points to a good possibility that the 2017 CX-9 will get the heated wheel. Not having at launch in the US made no sense when Canada gets it.

What everyone is asking Mazda to do though, is to put the turbo into the 6. Every reviewer raves about the Mazda6 but complain about a lack of power to go with what is otherwise a sports sedan.

If there was turbo is the 6 or the 3 I'd scoop one immediately.

Yes! You can also Add Mexico to the list. Their GT model has the Grill LED accent and the interior as well. They do not have a Signature model there.

Question for you Signature owners, besides the Grill LED accent (I haven't seen one yet on the road), and the accent lights around the center wood finish, what also is included in the interior accent lighting? I know there is an upgrade my Mazda, it's like 250, but it only adds light on the foot pedal area. I was hoping for more..but nope.

You are right. The GT in Mexico have the Grid Led accent and leds on the door handles (front doors) and led accent in the rear doors (not in the handles). There is no led in the center console or pedal area. The lights on the door handles are really cool as well.

GT in MX have AFS who is a really cool feature. I use it in a very dark curves last week and really help me to check the path where I was driving. Not only cool, it's a security item for sure.

The rear traffic alert was useful as well 2 weeks ago when I was going into reverse and I don't see anything to the left due to some trees. I see different alerts on the 8 inch screen (low corner of the screen, red "wifi bar type" alerts)

When you say LED in the door handles, is it on the outside or the inside?

Inside the car, in the front doors, in the handles there is led lights inside who provides a cool effect. I will post a photo tomorrow.

Posting here since this thread seems more active.

Have you fill up your 2016 CX-9 gas tank? If so, how much have you put? I put gas today and I had about 40 miles to empty tank and I could only put 13.2 gallons. Its supposed to come with a 19 gallon tank. With a tank full of gas, it says the Range is 316 miles. (316/19 is about 16.7mpg)...The math isn't adding up for me. I'm thinking I have a smaller gas tank, probably 15-16 gallons tops.

Curious to see what your numbers are.

Somebody knows when the front led in the Grill is turned on?. My wife used the CX9 GT today and I just wait here to pick up a couple of boxes and see the Grill Led (and like it a lot). But I don't know if this led only turns on at night or when the light selector is in AUTO. Any ideas?

If you have it, why are you asking us? Please test it out and report back.

Because sometime works, sometime don't. Perhaps the grill led only works only at night (light sensor involved)

The dealer told me this are day running light but this is not true.

Nice - My US GT has those LED on the door handles as well...the only thing missing is the one by the center console near the wood trim and the grill accent.

I only see door handles leds on Porsche Panamera and Infiniti QX80.

Nice Mazda added this feature to the new cx9.

So basically almost all the features from the Signature U.S. is there on the GT Mexico model except for the auburn Nappa leather? And for a way lesser MSRP?

Bah. The GT in Mexico is a trimmed version of the USA GT. We don't have the technology package (no radar cruise control, no eStop, no lane assistance) and there is two additional items we don't have:

- air pressure sensor in tires
- co-pilot weight sensor (for disabling the airbag when there is no weight in the seat)

Price in MX is 28,500USD + tax. (33,000 USD) - I pay 32,000 due to loyalty/negotiation.

1500 - 3000 USD cheaper than Pilot and Pathfinder.

The grill LED only comes when the actual headlights come on. The daytime lights are the LEDs around the headlight, at least in the US. Your dealer didn't explain it well.

yes, we have the projected color HUD.

I believe is a good price for a Grand Tourism AWD. My fear was the engine but I like more the new 4 cyl turbo than the old V6. No more dropping gears when accelerate in climbs.

Bah? I'm saying you got a good deal on your GT man.

I agree with cubanomx, I would like to get the complete i-activesense even for some extra $, I think it's worth it. Made me even wonder if it's possible to add as an option in us dealer, but I don't think Mazda left the harnesses (as previously mentioned in this thread)
