2016 CX9 Owners Thread

Has anyone figured out the use for the integrated key in the key fob. Sure, you can open the doors if the battery runs out, but then what? You can't start the car with it. There's no place to use that key other than the door handle.

I believe you can still start a car w/ drained battery on remote by placing a key near the start button.

Well you can't start the car with a dead battery...so....

Ever noticed Mazda has also eliminated several other nice features from previous-gen CX-9? Such as auto tilt-down passenger-side mirror in reverse, and memory function for outside mirror positions to name a few.

Wait, what? So the memory function only works for seating positions, not for outside mirror positions? Then I have to always make outside mirror position adjustments when I drive my wife's car later. That's a deal breaker for me. What a pointless function is that?

Dead fob battery, not car battery. My BMW has a spot on the steering column with a picture of a key where you can touch the fob and start the car even with a dead fob battery; my old Lexus did the same thing if the fob was touching the start button.

Like what andyee said, I believe you can do the same thing. Touch the remote key to the start button and then you can start the car. I think its in the manual.

Thanks, didn't know that. I'll have to find that spot in the cx-9. So I guess the key will open the door and the dead fob will close some sort of magnetic loop and start the car.

That alone is a deal breaker? Takes 2 seconds to push the mirror button. I agree it's another bad omission in this vehicle but if this would be your choice otherwise I'd still go with it. However if it's this omission along with the others talked about, then it might be the straw that broke the camels back.

Yeah I mean there are plenty of other deal breakers besides that one. :-)

Yes, I believe this is what is designed for. If the key fob have a dead battery, you cannot open the SUV with the fob, so you use the keys instead. Once you are in, just put the keys close to the steering wheel and you can then power on the SUV.

If the car battery is kaput and you cannot open the doors, you can use the keys as well for opening the SUV if you need things from the inside.

I'm wondering how my wife's Xtrail 2015 (Rogue in USA) can be opened when the SUV battery is without voltage. We will be unable to open the SUV.

Somebody knows when the front led in the Grill is turned on?. My wife used the CX9 GT today and I just wait here to pick up a couple of boxes and see the Grill Led (and like it a lot). But I don't know if this led only turns on at night or when the light selector is in AUTO. Any ideas?

I don't think the accent grill light turns on even during daytime. At least no light on my signature even when it's on auto.

I thought the signature only had the led grill ? The GT has it too ?

My GT doesn't have the LED accent grill lighting, only the signature trim does. I just looked on the Mazda booklet and it says that is one of the differences between the GT and signature trim level.

only in Mexico GT version, they don't have Signature

In MX there is only GT now.

In few months they will have Sport, Signature, etc.

Trimmed versions (we lost features in order to get an acceptable price). If Mazda don't do that, they will be unable to sell a single CX9 here. I have 2 months with mine and I don't see another cx9 turbo on street in this 23 million people city.

I didn't even look at the location. I would like that as an accessory, looks sweet.

Yes, looks really good.

We get our GT AWD Red Soul price at 28,500 USD + tax. Not bad for one of the highest trims of the new CX9. The only bad thing is we don't have the high tech package (lane assistance, laser cruise control) but we have AWD, BOSE, BSM, 20 inch, etc.

I was surprised when I see our GT had the grill led and interior leds on doors.
