2016 CX9 Owners Thread

I agree with cubanomx, I would like to get the complete i-activesense even for some extra $, I think it's worth it. Made me even wonder if it's possible to add as an option in us dealer, but I don't think Mazda left the harnesses (as previously mentioned in this thread)

I don't believe this is possible. The i-activesense have lot of items (radar, laser, hardware + software, extra buttons, wires (maybe fiber), etc). The package cost must be between 5000 - 7000 USD

Yes. And I agree. Great price for sure.

I say "bah" because they removed the tech package....the cool features. [emoji22]

What tech features missing from your GT? Surprising they didn't include the must haves.

So the new Mazda 6 has a naturally aspirated version of the cx-9 motor? That makes no sense.

Should be thinking of it more as the CX-9 having a turbocharged and differently tuned version of the Mazda 6 engine (and 3, CX-5 while we're at it).

Why doesn't it make sense? Most of the mid-size class that competes all have naturally aspirated 4 bangers around 2.5 liters. And they're all in the 185 HP area. Camry, Accord, Altima, Fusion,...

The difference is that the competition offers V-6's and turbo upgrades. Fact is though, the base 4 cylinders are the vast majority of sales.

Remember that this 2.5 liter Mazda has been using has been in place for a while. With the new CX-9, Mazda didn't want to develop an all new V-6 so they turbocharged what they had to be suitable for the large CX-9.

The GT in MX don't have the lane assistance, auto cruise control, eStop, tire pressure monitoring and copilot weight sensing.

They removed this technology in order to be able to cut 8000 USA USD from the price.

This is why they was able to sell the 40k usd GT here at 32k.

And they just added the led in the front grill. [emoji4]

The cx9 "new" engine is the cx5 engine with lot of mods. Japan Mazda engineers works hard for 2 years in the mods in order to add a reliable turbo.

saw a black 2016 CX-9 sport today coming from the opposite direction, and I gotta say it looked pretty good without the chrome front lower lip, I'm still looking to get a black Signature, hoping 2017 they will have the black nappa leather option added to the lineup along with the auburn, I'll probably plasti-dip the chrome lip black......or if it's just a simple snap on piece, I'll swap out the chrome with a fellow sport owner who wants chrome.

also, I will plastic dip the chrome grill horizontal lines so it'll look like the Mazda logo is floating (with the signature LED grill lights) it'll look sweet !!!! all blacked out upfront

Looks pretty good in black. Without the chrome I even believe looks better.

I drive it today in Mexico City highway (2nd floor in "el periferico" ) and get 35 mpg. 4 passengers.Amazing. I will post some photos later.

damn!!! that does look sweet all blacked out, i'm going to steal your idea, LOL, just kidding.

The grill LED only comes when the actual headlights come on. The daytime lights are the LEDs around the headlight, at least in the US. Your dealer didn't explain it well.

You are correct. I test it today in daylight. The led in the grill turns on when the headlights are ON (manual or auto). I was confused because on daylight the led is barely visible.

The GT in Mexico is 8000+ USD cheaper compared with the USA version but don't have the technology package (lane change assistance, eStop, laser cruise control).

There is no way they can sell here the full version GT at the same price of USA because they will sell zero units. If they sell GT at 42K with the current exchange rates, they will be selling at deluxe segment prices (MDX/QX60). They always trim units available in Mexico in order to cut some expenses and sell it cheaper.

NICE !! looks great ! perfect for Batman LOL

When looking through the lighting options I see auto on for the headlights and some options. The electronic manual doesn't explain what those options translate to. For example what does High mean?

On another note I would love for Mazda to update the infotainment system to provide some basic graphs for what's happening with the vehicle. Such as turbo psi, coolant temp, water temp, etc. on one or two "screens". Similar to what you can see if you have an android based OBD2 scanner connected and the right app. From a performance perspective I feel this was a missed opportunity. Thoughts?

It should be explained in the manual that came with the car. But essentially, when the headlights are set to AUTO it means that when you flip the high beams on, they're not going to turn on unless the conditions are right. This is meant for when you're driving on the highway (or anywhere for that matter) you put your high beams on and they'll turn on [switch to high] depending on your current speed, how dark is in front of you, if there are cars in front or oncoming, if you're driving in the city they will switch back to low. So, the car decides when to switch between on and off so that you don't have to.

With regards to the other infotainment system stuff... Mazda needs to worry about making the system robust enough that it doesn't reboot randomly, and adding Android Auto/Apple Car. What you're talking about has less than 5% change of happening.

SDL, there have been many posts about the problems with the vehicle. Rather than keep repeating the problems I wanted to have a discussion about ways Mazda can add additional value with existing resources.

I received this email from Mazda North American Operations asking for feedbacks on my experience with my new CX9 Signature:

"We hope youre enjoying your new Mazda CX-9 and the benefits of being a part of the Mazda family.

We have a passion to design and engineer the best vehicles possible. As a Mazda Owner, you have a passion for driving, and that is why we invite you to be a part of our exclusive "virtual focus group" to help us learn more about your relationship with your new Mazda.

Please click here to complete our survey. The link will be available for 14 days, and the survey will only take about 15 minutes to complete. You can even save your responses part of the way through and return to finish the survey within 14 days of receiving this e-mail.

We'll send occasional notes to touch base with you in the future to make sure you're fully enjoying your Mazda experience.

We appreciate your time and participation. Your feedback will help us to build even better Mazda products in the future."

So I did took the chance to address the issues I did have from infotainment freezing and rebooting, underpowered AC, below average mpg as advertised, and the 6 way driver power seat issue.

I will not be expecting any actions from Mazda HQ but at least it's a shot in the dark and the more feedbacks and complaints they will get, the more chances of it being addressed and getting fixed.

So did anybody here get this email?

I guess you forgot about the transfer case service intervals. Someone else posted that the fluid is for life. I would rather have them address that than the convenience features.

That should be included too but the survey only talks about the existing problems that I/ you have encountered and what brought me to complain about this issue.

But if ever I'll received a call or email as a follow up, I will include that as well. Thanks.
