2016 CX-5 seems to be sluggish after recent oil change

I took my '16 CX-5 sport to the Mazda dealer recently for a synthetic oil change. Car has about 91k. I feel like the accelerator pedal feel heavier than before. Feels a bit sluggish when accelerating to like 40 mph. They claimed that they used synthetic 0w-20 oil in the engine as it states on the receipt.

During the oil change they did a free inspection, and they claimed that the spark plugs needed to be changed, when I had them changed at 75k with the NGKs that are recommended for the vehicle. Had them changed at my independent mechanic. So, they were just trying to make a fast buck on this one.

Maybe they used heavier oil like 5w-30?

More likely is marginal gas, you fill up recently?

I seriously doubt that one could actually feel the difference in driving between those two weights of oils.

Well, I thought I noticed the issue when I first got the oil change done about two weeks back. I just re-filled on Friday and still feel the same.

This is what they had recommended during their inspection:
-Throttle body service
-EFI Service (Fuel Injection Cleaning service)
-Spark Plugs, they had actually removed my spark plugs and show me a picture of them. (But I had those change at 75k with the NGK ones for Mazda, so they were just trying to rip me of.)

Declined all the recommended services. Not sure what it could be.

Check the oil level and make sure it isn't overfilled.

When I switched from 0w-20 to 5w-30 I could barely tell the difference. Maybe the engine spun just a little easier on 0w-20 but if I hadn't been trying to notice a difference I'm sure I wouldn't have noticed.

Just checked the oil level and it and it seems to be over the top-level marking and not just in-between.

So, I read the cx-5 manual. It says to wait 5 minutes to allow the oil to settle before checking. I checked the oil a few seconds after I turned of the engine.

Let it sit for awhile on even ground then check it.

The Sport has the 2.0 NA while all newer CX5s have the 2.5, which has a slightly greater oil capacity. I wonder if they overfilled by a half a quart?

My '16 Sport has the 2.5L Skyactiv. I need to re-check the oil level once the car has been sitting for a while.

Good on you for declining their BS money making services.

They pulled the plugs? All of them? Yikes!!!! Perhaps they screwed something up doing this? You may want to pop the hood, pull the engine cover, and have a close looksee at the plugs, wires, and coil packs and whatever else is under there that they could screw up.

The dealer would lose me as a customer if they pulled my spark plugs during an oil change. No service shop should be doing that. In fact, I suspect the picture they showed you were probably not your plugs. I doubt they took them out at all.
If you still have the pic, take a closer look at the brand. They just saw the mileage and figured they could make a quick buck.
As for the oil, when I had my 6, I switched from 0w20 to 5w30, and it actually ran better and quieter. No way will 5w30 oil give you your symptoms.

Yeah, perhaps they messed something up. During service they showed me a picture of the plugs, but I don't have it anymore. I am going to the dealer on Friday for them to have a look at it. I believe they even looked at the throttle body and said it was dirty, but the car was running perfectly fine prior to the oil change.

Something doesn't pass the smell test here.
If they took a picture, I presume it's digital, which means it's somewhere on somebody's device.
Ask them to send it to you. If they say it's been deleted or no longer available, then I call bulls***.
These guys are up to something, and it's not good.
I have never in all my years of car ownership had a dealer or mechanic pull all the plugs out during an oil change. It's not a five minute job to start with.
Secondly, if they wanted to show you the plugs, why not leave them out for you to see?

I actually found the email with the inspection results where you click on the link under spark plugs recommended and it shows the picture (attached). I doubt those plugs are mine. I had them changed out at 75k with the NGKs for Mazda.

No way are those the plugs you changed at 75k. I changed my plugs in the 2018, which were Mazda Branded, at 116,000km (close to 75k) and they were in better shape than those. Could have screwed up the coil packs or loosened a wire somewhere though you would expect a code.
