I am trying to decide between a RX-8/Evo/WRX.

Right now the RX-8 has the lead because I can get it the cheapest out of these 3 cars. The only thing that is bothering me like ALL Mazdas is the lack of power. I know a stock RX-8 runs mid 14s. How much work would it take to get into mid/high 12s?

I've only looked around a little bit and havn't seen much support for the RX-8 and what I have found is pretty expensive. Just thought some rotary owners could fill me in.

The RX-8 is more like high 14's to low 15's a buddy of mine has one. In my eye I just can't see non-turbo rotary's. Mitsu. is crappy quality but gobs of power. My friend has a very nicely modded EVO but her say the only thing he likes about it is the power but, it rides rough and rattles like a honda. The WRX or WRX STi very refined car IMO very soild and easy to mod. The 350z is also a great choice with plenty of options.

I like the WRX but I am not a big fan of the box engine.

if ur a mazda fan stick with a mazda!
if i didnt like my 5 i would go with the evo 8
wait till next yr for the 3.0 evo 8! with the motor in the back!

Not to brag cause I know I'm on a Mazda board but I have a WRX with only a 3" cat-back and I have rolled OUT on RX-8's even one modded with eManage (before the catback). To me it seems a car of that quality, looks, package and refinement should be much better then it is. It has it's reasons, I know because I almost bought an RX-8 just because of it's looks but I didn't want to have to modd the hell out it just to get good numbers.

what about the n/a rotaries that run 10s?? you know the ones that rev to like 14 grand...

was it a 6spd or ATx?
there's a fair amount of power difference between the 2.

of all, i would say to go with a WRX if you want the power and control.. i've only sat in the rx8, myself.. never driven it, so i can't say if it's worth the money - but it looks super hot :)

Well a fully built, tons of money rotary, thrown ito a '82 Toyota Starlet that weigh's like 1500lbs with driver and a ford rear end.....

ok :D

RX-8s have a long way to go 'til they get in the 12s, but on a race track, they match up nicely w/ the 350Zs.

Even though rx-8, wrx, and evo are in the same price range, when it comes to power you are comparing 2 cars the are turbocharged and a car that is not. Not to mention that the rx-8 can handel the s*** out of both of those car on a track.

there is an rx8 around here putting 450 to the wheels with an emanage, porting / polishing

Forget the RX-8 if you want to post fast numbers, get a 3rd gen and kick everyones ass, and you'll even have some left over in the bank...
