Has onyone made their own O2 sensor wire extension (harness)?

I've been having a hell of a time trying to locate O2 sensor male and female connectors to do so.

i just cut and extended my wires and have had no problems with that..... just do good connections....

I don't want to splice or cut into the O2 sensor. It's just me - I like to not have to cut into anything if I don't have to and I like to be able to reverse anything I do.

That said, Mike, I'll look into the Mustang extenders...specifically I was looking for the 4-wire.

I've been looking for the same thing. I don't like cutting my stock wires. I will keep asking around and if I find a good solution, I'll Let you know. Louie

it is 4 wires and if you have good splices you will have no problems....... sorry i am an electrician on planes but it is easy...... to prove it all you need is a multimeter....... but if you want to buy a extender and it works then ......ok but it will cost like 2 dollars at most to extend yours........

joka1, yeah, I'm not worried about my splices going bad, etc..I never have had that happen as I'm pretty good with that sort of thing.

I just don't like cutting into something if I don't have to....I'm not looking to buy an exteneder, just looking for the proper 4-wire connectors to match to the O2 sensor and to the O2 engine harness.

I want to be able to go back to stock. I have 65k left on my warranty and mazda is not known to be nice to any mod on a protege. Louie

I'm not so much worried about warranty. It's just my own piece of mind..I guess I'll go take a look at the O2 sensor connector itself and see who injection molded the connector and go from there...

s***, $35...that's almost the cost of a new sensor...as I said, I just need the connectors...oh well..

Where can you get a new sensor for $35? Cheapest I found was a $150something and thats a universal one.

I have a wire stretcher that's powered by an AC battery if you'd like to borrow it. ;)

Anyway, you could always go to a junkyard and the connectors and a length of wire from a car and make your own "extender". I doubt they'd charge you anything for them.

Will this fit? Image: 756k in size

Old school bump. Does anyone know if the attached will work with our 4-wire sensors? I haven't pulled the sensor plug ever, but I believe the Protege's are 4-wire, but a "square" connector...?

It's an email from a vendor - $15+ shipping for one... I may just build my own this weekend though...

Bump.

Any advise on how to get the harness apart? I cut a 4-wire harness out of a 626 today at the junkyard and I'm having a hell of a time getting the two ends apart.....

umm we used a flathead screwdriver when we put the header in my car a few weekends ago. That and a lot of patience!
