11psi - Clutch can't handle the torque

We have been using and selling Spec for 2 years now.We currently have a Spec stage 1 in our Turbo P5 and have had great luck with it.We have had the boost as high as 12psi and had no problems.

<--has a built bottom end.

I'm gonna call Spec in the morning and see if the stage 3 is a 6 or 4 puck. Hopefully it's a 6.

put your stock flywheel back in i seriously think that the flywheel has very much to do with your issue here and that your eithier gonna find your current clutch to be fine or that your going to burn through the new one again.

Welp, just ordered a 6 puck stage 3 Spec clutch. I was wrong, it's NOT kevlar, it's some kind of "Xpad" which is a carbon metallic or some crap like that. Good times.

Cool deal, you'll like it. My stage 2 is the kevlar one, the material doesn't look exactly like stock. The stock one goes completely around the entire disk, the kevlar has some material taken out so it kinda looks like a gear inside out with the teeth towards the middle of the hole. You don't need as mutch material since it's kevlar.

Wow, I'd like to see a pic of that, Tim.

Anyway, I got mine in today...take a gander.

How much for a stage 2 spec clutch?

ACT actually does not manufacture clutches. They are the designer/prototyper i guess you could say. Exedy is much larger in the sense that they are a division or subsidiary of Daiken, which is probably the largest OE clutch manufacturer. Exedy/Daiken makes clutches for Cusco for example.

It's very possible that ACT provides proprietary info to Daiken or another maker to have a clutch made specifically for them with their specs.

Peace, Rishie

Kool,

If you have a part number i'm sure there are tons of places to get a phat deal on an exedy. Another company is RPS clutches. They make custom clutches and I'm sure they have something to fulfill your needs. They also have many off the shelf clutches as well.

Rishie - Thanks, but you're too late! Good to have the info here either way. Thanks for the info too.

Chas - links to prices are a few pages back.

Spec clutches are great.. i promise you'll like it, and that it wont be hard to drive....
Ive driven a t3 miata w/a a spec stage 3 4 puck, and its a breeze to operate... granted it does chatter a little bit. but ohh well, its gonna hold all the power you can throw at it!!!
