NEMOC Random BS Thread

i often think of what i'd have if i never got maried, had 3 kids that all needed to be educated, clothed, fed, housed, and married...then i remember i'd be pretty lonely (but have lots of cars)!

haha...how appropriate!

Is today over yet? Crazy day, thankfully tomorrow is my day off!

So Bruce, are you getting royalties for each of the 450 sold? haha Sorry to hear about the ticket too.

Mark, I know what you mean. I've pondered the same question and come up with the same answer. I'd rather come home to a house full of my wife and kids vs. a garage full of toys!!!

And time to start shopping for a new laptop. Power ports on both of ours are shot so the battery won't charge. They will run with the ac adapter plugged in but if it moves slightly the laptop shuts down instantly. In the process now of backing everything up to flash drives. Both are Dell's and one is just shy of 2yo while the other is just shy of 2 1/2yo....so might be shopping for another brand.

the new scion fr-s sounds nice too!
Could be my next car LOL. Specs are very close to the MS6. 0-60 in 6.2 (MS6 is 6.0). However it's a second slower in the 1/4 mile. Probably would make up for it in agility being 600 lbs lighter. ...but I'll hold on to the MS6 for a few more years or until stuff starts breaking. Last payment will be made next month and I'm only at 86,000 miles.

I watched this yesterday...

Pretty good movie, more of a tribute than a documentary, but it displayed how much politics plays out in F1. Ayrton was fast (probably the fastest to ever race in the wet), but he struggled with the political side of the sport from the very beginning. I loved seeing old footage of the tracks like Suzuka and Monaco. The collisions and accidents are the same ones I experience racing on those tracks in GT5...except I get to hit the reset button afterward.

Yes, first saw that in the UK thread somewhere, special version there as well. Top is a but too glossy for me but the effect is the same. Yes, I am getting a commision from Mazda.

Night all.

Heya guys, I know I'm rarely around the forum, well that probably won't really change, but I have a new job in NYC, and will be relocating to the Pocono Mountains, just inside PA along the PA/NJ line. Exact location still pending, but will be either right off I-80 or right off I-78 (and I'd be using whichever one that was for most of the commute into NYC). Don't call me too crazy though, since I only have to be in the office 2-3 days a week. Rest of it is work from home. Which days I have to be in the office, and even what hours of those days, is entirely flexible, so it will be exceedingly rare that I will have to do the commute in rush hour traffic. Most of the guys in the office work ~10-11am to 7-8pm.

What is more, I was hired partially for my data analytics and application development knowledge, partially for my knowledge and passion about cars. The company's primary product is car related, and I'm apparently the 2nd person (out of 15 now) that actually has a car. (lol) So I'm part application development, part automotive consultant (from a mechancial/electrical side). I can't go farther than that due to a Non-Disclosure Agreement, though that appears to be getting lifted in April when the product gets released publicly.

Oh, and a 70% pay raise was nice.

So, we will be moving within a few months, and our target requirements for a house will have room for guests and stuff, so we will be a free resource for people to lean on if they need a place to stay, either for the area or just passing through on a road trip.

And I've decided that yes, I'm going to put another engine in the 99 Miata, but I'm only going to be dailying it only as long as it takes for me to either find the exact NC Miata I want (6sp MT, white or blue, 2009+, PRHT, Touring or Grand Touring) or that special edition pictured above becomes orderable in white :) (I think white/red is the combo coming to the US and Japan. UK is Green.)

I need something better on gas than the 8, but the 99 Miata is too harsh for several hundred highway miles every week. The slightly larger NC solves the comfort issues, the PRHT gives me the top down as needed but kills much more of the noise strain when up. I never liked the 2006-2008 NC front bumper, but they fixed that for 2009+. I was eyeballing the BRZ, but the weight just kept climbing, and now that it's as heavy as a sport trim RX-8, I've dropped it from the list.

Sooo that's my update.

Congrats Mike.

On another note, what years did the engine rebuild/warranty cover for the RX8? A friend is interested in buying one used.

All years, 2004 - 2012. 8Yrs /100,000 miles from first purchase. Many Canadian dealers refuse under "we haven't heard of it"

Have you friend read my new and prospective owner's info thread: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=202454

If the 8 isn't for them, it will scare them. If it is for them, they will go in with their eyes open.

Congrats Mike and welcome to tri-state area, i'm from north jersey ... about 20min away from NYC.

Corksport radiator has developed ballooning on the end tanks surface , both bottom and top ... Tom at Doc B Racing thinks it might be a "blowing head gasket" which leaks combustion gases into coolant jackets thus pressurizing the radiator more then it should ... time to check if coolant has traces of combustion gases ... what a bummer.
