My Impreza progress thread

lookin good man!!

Those gonna be the summer wheels? Or winter wheels?

when you gonna drop it? lol

They will eventually be my winter wheels but until I can afford some nicer wheels they will be my all year wheels. Not sure when I will be able to drop it. It might be a while for I want to get new struts with the springs, or just go all out and save for coilovers.

Its not worth doing if its not worth doing right. I applaud you.

Thanks. Yah I would rather only take out struts and springs once instead of just slapping on some aftermarket springs with stock struts and have the struts blow out and have to do the job all over again. Although I did do that with my P5 and the struts were still good when I sold the car. But then again this car is a 99 with more miles and it is older than an 03

couldn't agree more, that's why i waited 4 days after buying springs to buy struts.

I was supposed to wait longer, i just couldn't wait! lol

I've been lucky, I've been rollin on my stock struts with the sleeves for 11 months. (knock on wood)

your struts HAVE to be blown.... with as low as you run your car (from what I've seen in pics neway)

I've been rocking my Eibach pro kit for 5 years now and still rocking stock struts

on just a drop spring i'd say its doable to a point. as long as its not an agressive drop, it may not put too much stress on the valve body... your compression and rebound probably aren't what they could be with a good set of shocks though...

if i had to bet, I'd say they were blown before you were used to them on the drop springs... stock shocks aren't meant to take that kind of punishment. the stiffer sprint is probably an improvment for you regardless of shock dampening. lots guys I know from back in the day ENJOY the bouncyness of coilover sleeves with blown shocks.... I couldn't ever figure it out.... but, hey, to each their own.

either that or they gradually went enough for you to not really notice and are just used to it lol

I got one good up date for you guys and one bad one. First the good one.

3/10/09 GOOD UPDATE:

I painted my pillars a gloss black and my headliner black with some fabric paint:

Also thanks to my buddy brian(aka Brisky) I got a new shift knob comming.

BAD UPDATE:

Last sunday my car was hit by a girl who lost control of her car on the ice. I was driving straight on a road and got to this corner where I saw the car start to slide. I tried to avoid it but I could not do so. The car slammed into my side and pushed my car in a ditch. Now both my left doors are toast! You can see in the pictures where the tire tracks start and how it pushed me in the ditch:

The damage:

The good news is an appraisor is going to access the damage soon and I will get a check shortly after that. I might try and do the repair's my self to save some money and use the rest for maybe an RS bumper or new paint all around. We shall see.

You're better off getting two new/used doors preferably red and transfer the glass over and pocket the rest of the money saying you get red doors.

Yah, thats my plan. I have sourced two doors already for about $450 but neither are red though. If all else fails I will end up painting the whole car since if I paint the doors I have to take the side strips off which leaves holes behind.

3/17/09 UPDATE:

Got a small update for you guys to keep your appatites at bay. Thanks to my brotha(a.k.a Brisky) I now have this lovely new shift knob by TWM. It is there "Bombshell" shift knob and it ways 1.3 lbs! Makes shifting a bit easier:

Also to let you all know what is going on with the repairs from the fender bender I had a few Sundays ago... The insurance company is having a local body shop (well known "Body by Scotty") give me a call to have an estimate made up. I will then get a check soon after. I will then deside after I get an amount if I will do the repairs my self or have them do it.

Took a couple pics while I was out and about today from my camera so you guys can see some good pics of my wheels. The car is dirty but you get the idea:

I also got my insurance estimate today. Came out to be quite a bit I will be getting from the insurance company so I think I will do the work my self. So I think I might try and repaint the whole car and possibly get an RS front bumper. We shall see. Hopefully I can get all the work done by April 4th(Suby meet). I will keep you all updated with that.
