I just wanted to know if anyone is currently using this system. Is so whats the differnce between the AEM and the Split Second? And what one would be a better choice and why?

AEM > SAFC, Period

People here use SAFC because there's alot information and is been used long time ago.

AEM FIC is a new device that nobody here have the gut to try it. I had one and it works flawlessly. I sold it for standalone EMS.

See thats what i though. I just got done turning a 1000hp eclipse that had a aem standalone and it was amazing. So i figuerd the aem fic should be the best way to go when looking for a piggyback. I just didnt know why everyone chose SAFC. Well hopefully ill order mine tomorrow then.

Whatever man, the SS AFC works awesome on the MSP. The AEM is no doubt a great unit, but not near as compatible with our ECU as the SS unit.

And I also think it's worth mentioning that you blew your engine, so that fact alone puts your AEM > SS AFC claim up for questioning. I'm not saying that no one has destroyed an engine with the AFC, but the great majority of us enjoy this unit without any drawbacks.

So to answer the OP's question, both units truly are great in their own ways. The AEM has more functions and allows for more management, but it's not as easy to use. Whereas the SS is a simple Air/Fuel Calibrator that a lot of us have great results with, and a lot of experience with. It works very well with the MSP ECU.

By just looking at the specs The AEM seems to be the better unit...at a better price!!
I also wanted to go this route but as XoX1de mentioned I was one of those no guts guys. The split second has a great following and strong base here. I wanted to go the AEM route but don't know much about install and tuning, so I would have ****** my car up.
XoX1de- Maybe you can post a new thread with your maps. Like the Split Second and Unichip ones...
I would love to here how you got it to work and installed it, since so many guys were having issues with install and getting it to work and tune.

I blew my engine with megasquirt 2... I ran 1 year no problem with fic.

Ya the AEM is a lot cheeper. Protege garage sells it for around $400. I dont think it will be that hard to install, just need a wiring diagram.

I was wondering about the AEM too.

I don't know how much a piggyback would help on the N/A route...or if its worth it at such a lightly modified status... But it seems like a great ignition and fuel controller for little coinage. And I would need it down the road anyway with all my N/A exploits. lol

Well, have fun. Let us know how it goes.

Here's a thread that might help, but the wiring diagram picture is gone.. PM the thread starter maybe?

Did MSII contributed somehow on the engine blow up or not at all ?
Just curious to know so I won't have same experience, thats all.

^ This says alot. If I didnt already get my SSFC V1 I would get the AEM FIC...

I have not yet seen a solid review of the AEM FIC on our cars. Until then, I would avoid being one of the few who tried. The guy that ran way too much timing is the only one that says it's good.

I will say this though: When somebody does a writeup, and has consistent long term results with AEM fic, I'll buy one and try too. Pricing for the SSAFC unit is laughable...
