ZPS Build Thread

Do you have a brake line wrench? I did and they all came off pretty easily. The only issue I had was remembering not to tighten everything too much. Also the new line would not fit cutout on the shock so it sticks out to the side. There are no clearance issues so I am ok with it.

yeah i went out and got a set of flare nut wrenches for this job but i guess i just have bad luck. I noticed that too about the cutout fitment, i was able to kinda "squish" the rubber part to fit in the cutout on bilsteins and then get the bolt in.

So I got my car dynoed again as a somewhat baseline before I work on the tune. Then again I don't think that I said anything when I dynoed my car 50K miles ago. My friends shop where I got the car dynoed has a dynocom dyno. If a car is over about 200 crank HP it gives comparable readings to a dynojet. Under 200 crank, the load cell can not read accurately so the numbers are low for example my Miata when it was NA did 75whp. Now with the load off the numbers are about 10% high. So now with that over with my car made 101WHP and 109WTQ. Everything was +/-1 hp or ftlbs for about 5 runs. Also these were the same as when I dynoed it when the car had 1K miles on it. As far as the looks of the plot it is basically the same as the corksport plot for their intake, but with the numbers changed. Also we do pulls from 2000 rpm. I will show the plots later once I have it tuned. I had to much other stuff to do to worry about it yesterday.

Well I haven't posted anything in a while and that is just not right. Currently I am sick so not much car stuff has been going on. I have finally decided on the shift knob I am going to get for the 2. I am going to get the full heavyweight Sure motorsports stainless piece. Since this is my DD mainly this will be nice to give a nice smooth shift feel. The stock shift knob is 300g. while driving fast I prefer a light knob, but for DD a heavy one is the way to go. I will have pictures when it comes in. I am planning on ordering this week.

I am also in the middle of getting the tune done. I was hoping to have it done this week, but that might be tough with how I am feeling. Either way I can say that the higher rev limiter is nice for the 1-2 shift. Once it is done the car will be going on the dyno again to see where it ends up.

Also I am going to try to get the 2 paid off by the end of this year, so I am basically going to be doubling my payments to get it done. I know I could spend the money on mods, but having the car paid off will really be nice. Also I can then think about what I am going to get next. Don't worry the 2 isn't going to get sold. I like it way to much. If anything I am going to be getting a 3rd car for myself. The contenders are the new Miata or the new 2 depending on how they turn out. The main thing I am thinking on getting is an Exocet. I would love to have one as a weekend car to just mess around with. It would start off as an NA, but boost would be in the future at some point.

So here is my issue with tuning right now. This winter in SC we have been getting a bunch of snow. This was when I left for work this morning.

Supposed to get 3-8 inches throughout the day. Not really tuning weather.

I live in Colorado, so I feel your pain there...can't wait for the next couple weeks when it's supposed to be more spring-like so I can do some real driving! :D

This past weekend I was driving around in the Miata with the top down and no jacket. Crazy down here.

Exocet FTW!! I seriously want one. As a scooby fan I've always wanted an 818, but the simplicity of the exocet is undeniable. And not having to deal with shipping since they are right here in the atlanta area makes it even easier/cheaper.

yea I was laughing pretty hard just from my fiancee laughing so much. I am about to head out and give it a 2nd go to try to get into the office.

Haha, reminds me of a time I was stuck in a parking spot and had nobody to help me out. There was a big soft snow pile 8 feet in front of my car, and a nice shoveled out spot between the two. So I put it in drive and gave the car a push. The car lightly drove into the snow pile, which was enough to get me out of the deep stuff and into the cleared out spot where I could get some traction and pull out.

To add more to the strangeness, we just had an earthquake here last night. I thought it was just our animals running around. My fiancee said it was an earthquake. I should have trusted her since she is from Cali.
