woo hoo.. getting my mazdaspeed exhaust tomorrow. :)

i think if mazda installs it for you it's warranty lasts for the remaining warranty plan you already have.

Jellybean the install is very easy. You spray some WD40 on the 2 rubber mounts that hold up the muffler then there is 2 nuts to remove. Take off old muffler, put gasket on exhuast pipe put on Mazdaspeed exhuast, tightend nuts to approx. 65lbs I think. It tells you the tourgue on instructions. It takes less then 30 minutes.

i fail to see how one could justify spending up to 400 bucks cdn which is what the mazdaspeed mufflers go for up here on a bloody muffler, you could get a whole cat-back sys made for that.

Just called OakTree Mazda (San Jose, CA) and they said it'll take 2 hrs to install ($200)!

I don't think so...

So is it that easy to install it myself?

lmao, I did it in 30 minutes myself.

Just get a 14mm wrench, jack up the car, put the rear on two jackstands. Slide under the car and unbolt the two nuts holding the muffler to the midpipe of the car. Once unbolted, put the nuts to the side, and there will be a metal ring in between the two pipes you unbolted (this is a gasket) put it to the side as well. Next, Spray the metal hangers that come off the muffler can itself, where they connect to black rubber hangers, with WD40. get a paper towel and grab on the metal hanger, and wiggle it out of the black rubber hangers. There are only two. This may be the hardest, but really it isn't even hard. Once you wriggle out the metal hangers from the rubber black hangers, the whole muffler shoudl come out. Just get your mazdaspeed and do the same.... insert metal hangers into rubber hangers holes.... put the supplied gasket inbetween the pipes, and bolt them back together.

After you install it, leave the car on the jackstands (MAKE SURE THE CAR IS NOT IN GEAR) and start the car, let the car run and get under the car and hold your hand near the area where you bolted the pipes together (do not touch pipe, it may be hot). If you feel air flowing out, the gasket is not seated right, just turn off car, disconnect pipes and move the gasket around to where is sits flush again (should be a ring lip to sit it on as you bolt the pipes together)

First time shoudl actualy work really, I never had a leak. Lower car, remove jackstand and tools, and go drivin! Vroom. This all sounds harder than it actually is, you will get your bearings once you get under the car and look around the muffler and see what I'm talking about.

Do yourself a favor and don't pay someone to install something this easy. Impress chicks and do it yourself.

Let's not kid ourselves - the primary function of an aftermarket exhaust is NOT to add power. It's to add sound quality and air flow (hence improved engine efficiency and fuel economy).
