We don't have many females on this forum, but the ones we do have are serious hardcore manual drivers. So I know you didn't mean to offend the females but I can see some of them offended by the thread. They mean business. They are alpha females.

Ain't that the truth, they will straight JACK YOU UP! (gun)(pissed)

I saw my neighbor(girl) try to drive a stick mustang and somehow drove all the way down the street and out of view before actually making it into 2nd:p

JEG0024: You have to look long and hard for one of us. LOL
Wish you luck!!

Well seeing as I don't even drive a stick... even if I did find one they wouldn't want me, or at least would make fun of me, so its no use.

PS. Its not that I can't drive stick, I just choose not too, and its just that my mom was the original owner of my car and honesty I'd prefer not to have stick driving in this hell hole. Whats cool about the whole thing is though I first learned to drive a stick on a right hand drive, left hand stick, and it was pretty fun:) Anyone else done that? Ok then.:p

Ignoring any gender silliness, I think everyone should know how to drive a car with a manual transmission. Even if they later decide to drive automatics later, the ability to drive a manual could be a safety issue if that is the only car available.

I have two children, a daughter and a son. I taught them both to drive a manual transmission, to change a flat, check the fluids and to autocross. I don't think that mechcanical knowledge or appitude is the issue, only training and a willingness to learn. If someone wahts to learn todrive a maunal, they can be taught. My daughter gave me all these reasons, and others, why she shouldn't learn to drive on a manual. After due consideration, I ignored them.

My wife had to learn to drive a manual while she was in the army. She continues to drive one of mine occasionally to keep her hand in. Her normal car is an automatic due to bad knees.

(iagree) again, I think its all perception that "Im just a girl". Im going to go its more of a nurture over nature on this one. As soon as I can deprogram that its a snap. I mean its not hard. As soon as they see what they are doing instead of what they have to do.....

Edit: Nevermind, I retract my post. I can't say anything nice so I wont say nothing at all.

women should't drive stick....they shouldn't drive at all. they should be barefooted slaving over a hot stove while cleaning the house. while we're at it, get off the internet.

you know why god made womens' feet small? so they can have an easier time heel-toe downshifting :]

i learned how to drive a standard on my husband's speed6, and even though it was initially filled with lots of swearing, stalling, and clutch-burning, i eventually became comfortable enough with it and the nervousness went away. it just makes me wish i had learned a lot sooner, or that my first car had been a standard.

haha my gf scares me on her turbo eclipse i think we gona crash well she is asian and as i say how to blind asian person put a windshield infront of em this only applies to my gf this joke not against any other asian person haha
but seriously she hit almost 5 cars and doesnt pay attention where she drives and stalls with makeup (when she is puting it on and drives) i usually just follow different car or i drive

Mmmm...a girl/woman who can handle a stick..shift,(lol2)

Naw,seriously, that's a bonus for me bc that means she can be a designated driver.
