If it was the only option, everyone would learn to drive a manual. Some would take longer than others. You can't say women specifically don't have the ability to learn. Some PEOPLE just choose not to learn how to drive a manual, not because they aren't mechanically inclined, but because they don't have to learn. Men are more inclined to have interest in a car beyond it's ability to get you where you want to go, that's why more men have manuals. it's personal preference. not genetic ability.

*Ahem* My husband was taught to drive manual (very well, I might add) by his *gasp* MOTHER! 
I don't think sex has a place in this conversation at all. It's all about preference. Most women that drive manuals do so b/c they know a little bit more about cars. Other women just view their cars as a means of getting from point A to point B.

that's because of the additional cost of buying the automatic and the gas mileage, function / form.

additional cost isn't really a problem, gas mileage over the long run although is. but still, same holds for the US. you dont see 99% of the cars on the road being manuals.......lazyness.

hell no. think about the reasons why they(men and women) dont choose manual. usually because they dont want to learn, or due to traffic, silly reasons. I wasn't refering to just women, just to clear that up.

also, just to clarify, I wasn't trying to rag on people. Hell, sometimes I wish I had an automatic. I dont wish it for long, but sometimes in certain circumstances the thought pops up.

I hear you on the last sentence. Like today in bumper-to-bumper traffic that goes from stopped to 1st gear, almost to second gear but not quite, then back to stopped.

Well, manual is cheaper than automatic. Since men have to pay more for car insurance we have to go with the manual to save costs. Women can buy automatics and crash them more, that way both are in equal financial situations.

My ex always had automatics in his cars. Then one time he bought an Si because he wanted something "sporty." That lasted about three weeks until he was whining that he didn't want to drive a manual anymore. Guess who got the Si and gave him a lovely Dodge 1500 quad cab SLT (auto for towing and such) to drive?

Do you ever think before you say anything? I mean really; I would take great joy in watching a woman driver beat your ass senseless on an autocross course as you massacre cone after cone.
There is a reason guys pay more for insurance, it is because statistically they get into more expensive accidents, not because underwriters want to even the score with women.
