Do we need new spark plug wires, or did Racing Beat put high end ones in??? If we do, are there any made for our cars????

I know for a fact that Nology does NOT make wire for our car. When I called them, the guy said that his mother had a Protege, and as we all know they have no distributer! :( I would not know if any could be done for our car though.

actually you can't get plug wires for the 2.0 engine. the engine has whats know as cid iginition which placed the coil on top of #2 and #3 cyl. then they use regular soild core wires to fire #1 and #4. the 1.8 and 1.6 have the normal distributor type so wires are readily available.

in my current issue of super street, i thikn they showed pics of MSDs new distributor-less ignition stuff...will post more when i get home later tonight

i actually spoke to one of the MSD dealers in toronto cause i was going to buy a new ignition for the car (p5). they said the ones that fit our cars are the new digital programmable dis-2 ignitions. heres the site if you want to look further into it. http://www.msdignition.com/n2000j.htm

Word to the wise. Becareful about the MSD DIS-2 system. I actually had that installed on my 90 1.6 miata. I had horrible problems with the box kickin the two-step rev. limiter in at about 3800 rpm. Between me and the tech guy we couldn't figure it out...the two-step feature wasn't even hooked up. I will admit they are good people to deal with, very friendly.

I also didn't get it cause the guys at my dealership said that it could give you problems, but he couldn't explain to me how or why so i decided to wait.

20ESGUY - what did MSD say about the problem it was giving you? did they suggest anything to fix it?

Bradsbadride - i am in richmond hill

The tech line said that i'd have to send the control module in to either be repaired or replaced; they didn't say which. I dont know if that would've fixed the problem or not cause i ended up selling the car before i got a chance to have it sent off.
