Window Tinting

I really don't know too much when it comes to window tinting. I want to have it professionably done so it doesnt bubble and so it looks good. I want it pretty dark too (black). I'm out near Hagerstown, MD right now (where my parents live) but in two weeks am driving back out to school in Missouri. If someone knows a good place to have the tinting done in either area please let me know, and please give me a good tint % recommendation. Thnx...

i have 15% and i love it even in the FL sun....makes the car look much better too i had 5% but i couldnt see to back up at night

Becareful with how dark, most states have legal limits. I lived in Orlando for many years and always put what they call the "limo" tint on. Two weeks prior to leaving FL. I was stopped twice because of my windows. I currently live in NC and they have the same laws. I am 2 shades over legal now. So far have no problem. The person who tints our vehicles here picked my car up and brings it back when done. He told me he never felt so paranoid in his life. Driving a hot spicy orange fast looking car with dark windows.

So far no hassle. But I don't drive bringing attention to my self.

Sport Compact Car magazine had a good layout a few months ago on the legalities of car modifications.......Good to know those things before the po-po make you rip sh!t off......Stupid ass NJ cops made me rip my tints and vinyl off my windows on my Prelude last year........

Yeah, I have 35% which is the legal limit here in CT, and it's not nearly as dark as I wanted it. I've been hassled by the cops about it and it's barely a tint, so I can't imagine the s*** I'd go through with anything darker. The cop also told me I need a "sticker" from the tinting company saying it was a legal percentage. I've never heard of that, but you may want to ask I guess. Mine cost about $130 to do all windows except the windshield.

if u gettin it done in md i recomend D&L tinting over by whitemarsh, md.....its right off white marsh blvd (rt. 43) and pulaski hwy.......md legal limit is 35% as well......im plannin on 35%........i dont see a point of darker tint, uless ur hiding something :)

missouri donest like the windows real dark. i used to live in cape girardeau and we used to get tickets all the time.... im in louisville ky now and they can go dark as you can get them. i went with 35%" real lite all the way around it looks good..

I think if you don't tint the driver and front passenger windows you can go as dark as you like with the rears and passenger sides...

I STILL do not understand why Mazda did not tint the rears at the factory, more cost cutting no doubt, cheap ass bastards...

35% is the legal limit all around for most places in Usa&Can. Some states do not allow tinitng on the drivers side window or the passenger side window. Look into it.

thnx guys, i will probably do near 35 in the front, in MO, the law is as dark as you want in the back. Of course i dont want too dark but i dont know what percents look like what. So for the back should i do like 15%? Or just straight 5%?

there are regional forums.....

congrats alexlitov, you have solidified your place as king dickhead of the boards. why even post if your going to be a complete dick and not even contribute to the topic. that is 2 days in a row you've done that.

btw, i would recomend a 30 to 35% all around. state laws blah, blah, blah. cars look much nicer when the have the same level tint all around.............just my opinion

Does anyone know the legal limit in the Los Angeles area? CA is always gay about their laws so before I get it done I want to make sure I don't go past the limit.

IL law is pretty much a free for all on the rear windows and absolutely nothing allowed on the front. which needless to say, did not stop Pro5OnSpeed from getting 5% all around. looks good on a black p5.

omg, i cant believe adam got 5% all the way around............theres a ticket waiting to happen. i bet it looks bad ass though. i think hes the only one to put 5% on all windows. no one else is crazy enough to do it

If you are feeling naughty, try silver tint, top to bottom...
On the right colour like White or sliver, it looks good. It looks almost grey unless you look directly at it.

mines 20% all around and I think looks great, and I can still see out at night. I had 5% all the way around on my mx-3, and I couldn't even see my side mirrors at night, and I eventually got a ticket for it.

louisville limit is 35% as well, most cops here wont stop you for anything darker, unless you are doing something else.

It looks good dont get me wrong, but w/ all the black surrounds on the windows IMO Black tint seems to flow better. I almost went w/ the platinum till I thought about the MSP had all the black surrounds.

I got 20% on the MSP. I had 5 on my Grand Am GT and it was just too dark at nite.

I agree about the tint should be even all the way around. When I had the "limo" tint, nights were rough to see out.
