A race is a race just because you stopped 5 miles over the speed limit doesn't make it safer or leagal, if a cop would have seen you you still would've went to jail for racing. They don't care if your racing from 30 to 40 mph. Most of the stories I have seen in there aren't much worse than yours(which I'm not saying you're bad for doing so as I have done so many times myself).Rawyzf said:

Legally a street race is any competition against time or another object. Speeding up to merge...street racing. Driving fast to get to work...street racing. Driving home fast to take a crap....street racing.peepsalot said:
It's funny, everytime i go to a mazda meet in houston...we all street race just a little. I don't feel evil when i do it and all of us are pretty safe and we don't haul ass through packs of children crossing streets. I think alot of people are just plain ignorant of what street racing is, or perhaps our definitions differ completely!

Regardless of me posting about racing, it was in a section to talk/ask local guys I know about a certain make/model car. It wasn't really about me bragging about a kill.
Now back to the topic. "Street Racing" section.
I think it encourages, others do not.
I can just see a kid thinking...oh man, if I can just beat this honda I can brag about it online and people will know that I have a fast car. Even though the majority will say to this kid nice job, people don't really care. But...this will encourage the kid to go out and race again to up his honda kill. This time he'll try a porsche, but the porsche can corner at 90mph and the mazda gets to use the gaurdrail.

Does everyone here with a modified cars just put around town at 35mph all day long? I doubt it. They are probably commiting some form of street racing in the eyes of the law. There are people openly discussing illegal things on here all the time: installing mods "for offroad use only" (jerkit), threads about doing drugs, discussing speeding tickets they have received, etc.
As for the danger, there is always some degree of danger involved in driving whether there is a race in progress or not. I think some people are capable of deciding when a situation is appropriate to drive in a certain way. Others might just be idiots that are going to get into wrecks whether they are racing against another person or not. You can quote statistics of how many street racing related accidents are caused a year, but what about just plain driving-like-a-jackass related accidents. Or some people might use the euphemism of "spirited driving" to describe their actions, but is that really any different than street racing?
People are going to street race regardless of the existence a forum subsection. And people will probably talk about it online regardless of the existence a forum subsection, so I don't reallly see the point in getting rid of it. The section gives a place to put discussions that would be here anyways. I wouldn't cry if it was gone either though. It's not much of an issue to me. Fun to debate though.

99% of all street races are done AWAY from the public becuse someone will sure as hell will pick up a cell phone and call for the PO-PO. You think they are just gonna blast down the main drag somewhere and get arrested?....OO wait I take that back there are people who do that. If they get caught they go to jail get thier car towed and in some cases they can have thier cars siezed. But most people are smarter than that and take it to unused or little traveled roads.
THere are more valid points to keep it rather than get rid of it. You would have to shut down a lot more than just street racing. Why does everyone mod thier car? To get more HP ...WHY? to go faster? You can only travel 65 MPH in most states so why does it matter if you can do 114 in th 1/4 mile? Why up the boost? THere is no need to go o-60 in 4 secs in a 25 MPH zone.. 95% of the members are not gooing to race the cars but the majority of them do have mods. WHY MOD???? Strip down your cars return them to stock and DO NOT SPEED because that is the law.
And dont forget DONT DRINK AND DRIVE!!
PLUS we have someone to bash (chair) and call names when they post stupid racing stories. What more fun can you have??

some people are forgetting that it's not about whether or not street racing is right, wrong, or if you don't care at all, but whether or not there should be a section about it on this forum and what having a section like that on this forum says about its members.
