why are ppl lowering their mp5 ?

lowering

I think customizing your car is like a haircut "everbody has their own style". I do however feel if you get bigger wheels please lower your car.. "YOU LOOK LIKE STEVE ERKEL!" with that highwater gap effect. If your car is stock and not lowered no problemo... see the gap is about even that puffy profile on your tire. Now, If you lower your car it is "The Norm" to drop your car at least to match the profile on the tire so all of you out there with 19's should have at least a 1.5 to 2" drop. and for those of you out there with audio systems and think that is lowered you are mistaken as the front is still sky high.. there are spring kits out there made especially for cars with a few hundred pounds of weight in them. Now this is my own opinion on lowering no need to take offense for all you steve erkel's out there...
perfect example of what not to do..
Take a look to the left and look at my car i even oversized to a 215/45-17 so i wouldnt have as big of a gap it still looks too high to me.. but I am waiting for tokico to come out with their shocks in July they will be paired with some vogtland springs.

i just got intrax springs... havent installed them yet... it's about a 1.8-2" drop.. i think it'll be great.. except for fear of speed bumps... lolz..

btw.. my friends says it's no race car and why mod?? i'd say better handling, less wheel gap (better look) and i like to sit closer to the ground.. lolz...

A lot of people consider "lowering" your car to be a ricer thing to do. I personally don't give a rat's a$$ - if you want to do it, do it.

The notion that lowering your car improves handling is often false. The lowering has to be done very precisely to actually improve cornering. Most of the lowering jobs you see on the street are done incorrectly, and therefore handling is actually worse. This is because on these incorrect lowering jobs the wheels have a tendency to angle inward by 5 degrees or more, reducing the tire surface touching the ground and thus totally screwing up your handling.

If you don't care about handling and you just want a fly hoopdy, yo, then carry on. :)

You can easily tell the diff between a properly lowered car and a "dirty" dump. Watch a lowered car on the freeway. When a poorly lowered car hits a bump it doesn't absorb the bump but instead the cars suspension travel oscilates up and down. Properly lowered cars eat up those bumps and you can see that they follow the contours of the road

since we're expressing opinions on the matter....

personally, I like the lowered look and I have read that with the Spool springs, 2" drop all around, no camber kit is needed...that's great....what I'm wondering is why most companies have the same drop all around, whereas Eibach Pro kit, the one I want, advertises 1.4 front and 1.2 in the back?

can i see ur cars pic w/ that battle z rims that u got. thanks!

I put SPOOL springs on my MP3 and I couldn't be happier. I always thought the MP3 sat too high of the ground, and now I think its poifect. As somebody here said (APEXi I believe) a sporty looking car looks best when lowered.

sporty looking car or not, i think all cars look better with a lowered stance.. down with wheel gap!! :)
