Going from a 16x6 +50 to a 17x9 +62 will add 50mm to the inside (roughly 2 inches) and add 26mm to the outside (roughly 1 inch). Not sure how it will look. I highly doubt you have the 2 inches of room on the inside. You would need spacers to keep from rubbing the strut, but then you will have a lot of wheel/tire on the outside.
