What the heck's wrong with our CX-7??!!

OK... We've owned our baby for 4 months now. And we're having a tough time feeling comfortable in any of the CX-7 forums.

The problem? We have no problems. Everyone else seems to have troubles galore, and we just want to fit in.

The following is only a small sample of the complaints and laments voiced in this and other Mazda forums - and - our personal experience and observations regarding those issues:

Vibrating doors... We're not exactly sure what that means, but ours don't even quiver.

Whistle in moonroof... We've found no musical instruments at all.

Leaking headlight... No water, condense, moisture or body fluids to be found in any of our lights.

"Clunk" in drivetrain... We've got no "clunks" anywhere (well, my daughter's ex-husband lives in Atlanta).

Abnormally low gas mileage... No, but not abnormally high either. Just kinda, well, normal.

Life-endangering turbo lag... WHAT?

Tarnish/rust on chrome and aluminum trim... Glistens and glows.

Soot on rear bumper... Bumper guard on ours.

Uneven jolt in gear transition... Is the even dispersal of jolts more desireable?

CEL on... Off.

Aggravating oil leak... Not even a mildly annoying one.

Mid-range acceleration surging... Only when pressing aggresively on the gas pedal.

Antifreeze smell... We kinda like the smell, but no.

Funky horn sound... On the plus side, it could take you back to the 1970's. Wish ours had a Regae sound.

Sporadic autolock... See "vibrating doors" above.

Etched-in spots on glass... Ours didn't come with the knobs, magnets and iron filings.

No bass in Bose rear speakers.... Bose put tuna in ours.

C'mon, you know the system sounds great. Good grief, you're driving, in traffic, moonroof open, with two kids and a dog in the back, while talking on a cell phone and eating lunch, in a motor vehicle with wheels and an engine and pumps and other components that move and make noise AND THERE'S NO BASS IN YOUR BOSE REAR SPEAKERS? Well there ain't none in your Bose home theater rears either.

Touchy steering... Yes, thank God! But more "feely" here.

[IRude and ignorant Service Managers... Wouldn't know. We've bought five Mazdas over twenty years from the same dealer. That's right - no trips to the service department for problems, ever.

Blind spots... Fortunately we did have blind spots on the CX-7. But unfortunately it only took a couple of $3.00 stick-ons to fix 'em.

No problems huh? Maybe if you took the car out of the garage and drove it occasionally, you could join the rest of us! LOL (idhitit)

Most of those complaints you cited were the glitches from first year production of a new model. Yours is fairly new, so most issues were resolved when your car was created. Consider yourself fortunate and ENJOY IT!

Oh welcome to the fan club!

Vince.

I also am having no problems but, then I only have a few hundred miles on mine. I'm just enjoing mine.

I know, Vince. Just trying to provide a little humorous interlude in a world of CX-7 angst. The damned thing will probably blow up tomorrow.

I'm with you blkcherimika; no problems to date! Maybe we should start an "unofficial no problems with our CX-7" club. I bought mine in March, so mine is relatively new too. Hopefully all of the bugs have been worked out in our models!

My only complaint is the lack of Ipod connectivity with the nav unit other than that I freaking love my CX7!!! This post is great though, and it's so true. If you were to lurk any forum for any car prior to buying it you would never want to buy a car because all people do is complain about something being wrong with it!

relax? it was just a question

some of the things you wrote came at certain mileage points, i was just curious thats all.

the post was great, im not breaking ur balls or anything

It's nice to see a positive thread. It seems that more than a fair share are purely solution threads to fix something or another. I really like mine, but I have reluctantly noticed a couple of the issues others have pointed out.

First, the transaxle seal on the driver side front is actually leaking. You have to run the AC on recirculate or it smells like a tractor (gear oil).

I did get the Gross EVAP leak detected error, but reset that. It only occured once, so I suspect that I may have put the gas cap on too loose. I did check the serial number and it is in range for the replacement. I also checked for the campaign sticker and it was not there. So, I do have the older, problematic gas cap but it seems to work.

I love my CX-7. There are a couple of issues, but the dealership where I bought my car has offered great service over the past couple of years so, I am confident that if any issues arise, they will be resolved.

Great post!!
I too have had no problems. It doesn't get the best gas mileage but as someone's signature says, "If you let the ponies out to play, you have to feed them."

I don't have an Ipod (don't get me started on those) so the Ipod connectivity doesn't matter.

I came from a Mustang convertible, my doors sound as solid as a Brink's truck by comparison.

Nothing has been leaking, clunking, whistling.... Though there is an occasional squeak from somewhere in the dash area, but every car I've owned has made some noise over bumps.

Currently no problems to report here either. Not to say I haven't had the PCM flashed a few times or a few TSB's performed but the wife and I both love our CX!

I'm sure most CX-7 owners don't have many problems... I just happen to be one of the unlucky ones that has a ton of them.

I'm just thankful that the dealer I bought it from is quite helpful and have been doing their best to take care of it all.

No problems here either except I wish for the damn iPod port and I will be happier.

Nice post Bill. You remind me of my sarcastic gf. LOL

So far no "present" problems for me too.. just my CEL before but was fixed right away...

Some people also complain of the weak A/C, but i dont notice it in mine.. I even have the black interior... You just have to cool it up a bit after being exposed in the sun (just like any other car)...
