Everytime I go fuel up the car, I thinks about the same problem... I can tell from the display that usually the person use pump before me putted in regular octane 87 and then i use the same pump and press the button for 92, since the pump uses one hose for all different kind of gas, am I putting in a few gallon of 87 octane gas which leftover in in the big hose.

Also i am a cheap ass person so i don't like to pay for 87 octane for the price of 92 and the MSP won't like those gas since it requires high octane!!!

Anyone knows that if i am putting in a few gallons of regular octane gas?? and does it hurt the car??

hmm good question, ive wondered that myself but, to rid this curiousity i try and go to pumps that have more than one nozzle. that way i KNOW (or am pretty damn sure) that i am getting 93 octane. just a thought or different angle.

if you're filling up on a 1/4 tank, the amount in the hose might reduce the octane level from 93 to 92.998... chances are there's more variability in 93 from station to station than you get from a few drops of 87 in the hose.

Edit: i see you're from Markham - just hit up Sunoco and put in 94. I've always seen them with separate hoses.

i use shell exclusively... 3 types of fuel, 3 hoses. can't get the wrong octane.

if u are using a 3 type pump with only 1 hose, you are getting less then 1/2 litre (thats all that willl be left in the hose) .

If the guy before you is like me. nothing at all, because when i'm done filling i turn off the pump, lift the hose as high as i can and open the nozzle draining every ounce of gas that i paid for out of the hose.

I live in Jersey where someone has to pump it for me. No lifting the hose over my head or anything.

I've got a friend that I see do that all the time and I just can't help but laugh...Don't want to waste that 10 cents worth of gas:rolleyes:

hehe... damn gas costs 92.1 cents a litre here, so 1/2 litre in hose is about 46 cents... times 5 fills a month = 1 pint of BEER

I LUV BEER

Yea i am from markham, i used to put in 94 octane from sunoco but gas price now is horrible so going down to 91 octane, since i turn off my ebc now to save some gas, at stock boost 91 octane should be fine....

**** you guys!
I live in cali,we got 91 octane,so don't b**** about gettin a few drops of lesser gas.
I can get 100 octane at a few stations, but it costs over $4 a gallon.

I do the same :)
