What is the Max HP that my Mazdaspeed can put out?

reading all this makes me want to give up on my msp and sell it if you cant go over 300hp whats the point of keeping it

how fast do you need to go? 13s is pretty quick for most people and considering it can be done with a stock internals drivetrain its pretty impressive.

plenty of proteges over 300hp just know that the trans does break at those levels so if you are beating on it dont expect it to last forever and dont act shocked or outraged if you break something. pretty sure its the same deal for vast majority of fwd cars, at least the ones ive owned. a friend of mine goes through a trans in his crx every other month. ive you drive gentle they last. if you act like a rapist running from the law, then ya things are going to break over time. this is the point where most people who mod the msp stop advancing HP levels as permanently fixing the issue can be "costly" as I stated in my other post, but then again do you need a 12 second car that goes to the track every day? if so go for it and find some good threads with info from people with big hp msp builds.

As a minimum, the turbo needs top be larger than a GT28 to build the volume of air that is needed to opearte 400WHP.

We still have no pictures of the car.. I suspect "Obvious TROLL"

Ya know what, this will decimate all AFTER you put about fifteen grand in it or more, if we have to, overnight parts from Japan.

srt4 make those number with a few bolt ons. i mean if the trans breaks at 300hp ehats the point. i would love to bilt my msp and go big turbo and other goodies but could you built the trans to hold stronger.

PAR built gearset(straight cut gears) with bearing reinforcement cups. Basically the same gearset that BrianMP5T has. I don't know if he has the reinforcement cups though. But for that transmission, you would more than likely be spending around the same amount as you would for a fully built motor plus some

But you also need a Quaiffe LSD to use the PAR gears

The stock diff, even if welded simply disintegrates

Enjoy the car @250 hp and be done, or do a drivetrain swap. Those are the only two options that make any sense to me at all. The FS wasn't built for power and neither was the trans. They can be rebuilt with better parts and it can be done, but why bother? Lets say you're a frugal shopper and you spend 10 grand to build the engine, the trans, upgrade the turbo setup, exhaust, FMIC, engine management, injectors, fuel pump, suspension, wheels, tires, etc. You will have taken a $6000 car and turned it into a less reliable $6000 car. Upgrade a few things to make the car more enjoyable, more reliable, and more yours and quit while you're ahead.

Anyone know what DSM did to the SRT-4 transmission to let it handle 300ft-lbs and retain the warranty? I am curious if it could be adapted. Not that I would ever do anything like that. Just curious.

You mean Neon? :D (ricer)

First time at the drag strip in my C6, I got smoked by a neon that ran a 12.2 at 116MPH. Remember it like it was yesterday. They are pretty damn ugly, they are made by Dodge, they have their fair share of issues, and I am sure handle nothing like the MSP, but there was no transmission work done to that car.

Quaiffe LSD was installed in the car. Stage 2 clutch do not know if he had the grears changed. I will leave it as is and just get it tuned. The car needs a better tune. Is a Godspeed turbo a good turbo? It has a Godspeed gt2871r installed in it. Thanks and no I am not a troll. I have just been gone on a military training that I have not been home to uplaod pictures that I have saved on my other computer.

The GT2871R is a Garret turbo, you can read all about them. There are 3 of them according to this list I like to refer to, although the links to the actual turbos are now dead.

What Godspeed has done to it, I don't know. There are all sorts of "mods" you can do the turbo themselves like snipping the corners of the blades. All seem kind of stupid to me since Garret probably know what they are doing.

Ok on second thought it seems like aftermarket parts companies like to buy Chinese knockoffs of Garretts and use the same name. That turbo is only $450 on Godspeed's site and matches the specs of the 52 trim model, but is a wet-float bearing although I am not entirely sure what that means. The R at the end of the name means it should be a ball-bearing turbo according to Garrett. So shame on Godspeed for the faulty naming.

It will work and it will last for a good while though, so don't just toss it. But if you keep the car for a while and it does give out replace it with something worthy of the money the previous owner put into it. At least it is still water cooled.

Any time a turbo is sized in "trim" ie. 50 trim it's usually Chinese. $450 for a china charger is rediculous you can get them for under 200...

My question is if you have 15k invested in a car why the hell would you use a cheap turbo? Something sounds odd there.

Maybe the original turbo went out and the po just wanted to get it running to sell it, or maybe he had a sick ass turbo on there and his friend was like i want that turbo, swap it for my china one.....who knows

Or maybe he just made a grand by selling his turbo and putting a pos chinese one on there.
