What is the Max HP that my Mazdaspeed can put out?

Cheapest way to 400whp is the SRT4, unless you buy someone else's failed project. Not much to debate there. I've seen SRT4's trap in the high teens with very little modification.

I've seen an EvoIX trap 126mph as well, so that is also an option, but that's not happening without some serious coin since EvoIX's don't sell for less than 20k unless something is wrong with them. I've seen a handful of Evo's go home on trailers as well and I am sure the repairs were not cheap.

If your goal was a street killer, you bought the wrong car. Maxx Mazda put more time/money/care/effort into a build than anyone on his last build and it promptly shredded 3rd gear.

Out of curiosity, what was your 430whp car and why do you no longer have it?

you can get Evos under 20 if you search the evoM forum cars for sale thread

Thanks guys for all the info. The car that I had before was a C5 Corvette ZO6 that had some mods. The reason that I dont have the car anymore is that I just bought a house and we needed money for it. I found a good deal on this mazda and that was the reason wgy I had bought it. I might just end uo selling it, but I will give it a try for a few months. Just to see if the mazda soul kicks in. Maybe I can be okay with having a 300 t0 350whp daily driver. If not then I will sell it, this cars has alot of mods done to it. That is why I really dont want to let it go and the man that had it spend over 15k in the engine, all the workl was done by Corks sport. Sorry if i had jacked the name up but it was a company by mazda I think. Well I guess time will tell, thank you all once more for all the help.

Pretty hard to spend 15 grand on an FS. Have to love claims of previous owners. Corksport is a very well respected aftermarket performance parts manufacturer and reseller for many Mazdas, but I highly doubt they charged anyone 15 grand to throw in some forged internals.

The Vette and the MSP could not be any more different, but it won't take 430whp to have the same amount of fun. The MSP is a good 500lbs lighter and has a much smaller, nimbler track. You will never have a reliable 350whp in the MSP, I don't care what you do or spend, but you don't need it. Give it a try for a while, the biggest problem the car has is tuning. There is no HP tuners or Cobb accessport for the MSP.

You did not mention what your car came with, but anyone who has forged internals at least has a piggyback. Although he could have easily removed it from the car before he sold it to you. You need to find out, and you really need a full standalone if you want to run that engine properly.

The MSP is a totally different animal than the Vette. You will need to relearn everything, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Too bad you had to sell it. They make a great pair.

15K in the engine. Are you positive? Anyway, I think 300 to 350 hp will bring you close to the fun factor of your c5 A.d.

Also a stock msp will easily outrun a corvette on a curvey back road. If you like taking turns fast more than going fast you'll love it

Man all this info is great and yes the man did spend 15k in the engine. He actually gave me all the paper work that said that. When I get the car back I will upload them so that you all can see what the car had done. I am really new to this tuner stuff and I am really looking forward to learning about them. With that being said, what the heck is a stand alone? Would that be the the little black box that is sitting in the passenger side that has a USB hook up? Man I am really sorry for the dumb questions I have but like I said I am learning. Also the I was told by the guy that sold it to me that I would have to a tuner that deals with microtech to retune the car becuase of the new turbo that was installed. Is that the standalone that all of you are talking about?

Are you sure tweety?

I'm not sure about the z06 but I stayed on a corvettes ass coming down a mountain, I could have easily passed him in the turns but he would have passed me on the straights. Ive even pulled away from a cayman before but it was on a road I knew very well. But it didn't take long before he was no longer in sight

Hey bud....If your engine is alread built you're one step ahead of the game!....look into building your transmission and a stand alone and you're on your way home,I wouldn't give up soo soon. Remember it's YOUR car now so take your time and build it. There's nothing like blowing the doors off a "sports car" in your little econo box protege, that is priceless

Oh it came with a microtech?? dude you're waaay ahead now, just look into building your transmission then.....Pics please

If you want 400 WHP you need to build an MP5T...

Have a look at the Forum Garage under "Most Money Spent"

You will find it there...

Also, you can look at the link in my signature.

Here is a start...
You need gears to hold over 350

The biggest factor in whether one car is faster through turns than another is grip. The stickier tire will always be faster. Also, you have to remember, most Vette's are driven by retirees that don't want to hurt their baby. One mountain road encounter doesn't mean much.

If you want to see what cars are fast, find the nearest race track and see what people are running. The Corvette is easily the most popular car on the track out here in AZ. Followed by the 911, RX-7, Miata, and Mustang.

That being said, this past weekend I saw an RSX on G-force R1's beat a bunch of much faster cars (C6, GT3, M5) that were on street tires. The rules in the series use your weight to power ratio and subtracts points for stickier tires. Even though the RSX was on R1's, it was so down on power that it was still in a lower class.

To the OP: A stand alone is an engine management computer that can control fuel and ignition timing without input from your stock PCM. The microtech is exactly that. Sounds like you've got some studying to do. You could find a tuner, but their time isn't cheap, and if you are going to want to daily drive this thing, you are going to want to learn how to program it yourself.

I wish I lived closer.. I would help.

The car sounds mostly modified.. I want to know who owned it before.

Yeah previous owner had to have been a forum member. He can look up his production number and maybe we can track it down that way.

What can the stock trans handle? Do I need to make sure that I keep the HP in a certain limit? I guess from what I am reading and you all are saying, the car most have been a good deal. One shop told me that I can install methanol injection, would this be a good idea? Thank you and I will post pics and documentation of the work that has been done.

300 WHP even of you baby it, will eventually fail 3rd gear Synchro.

Eventually you will release the clutch too quickly and it will grind out

As was said, 275 WHP in this car makes it absolutely fantastic

The MSP has a magical suspension that is forgiving and poised.

If you focus on the WHOLE PACKAGE rather than just a number, you can make this car sing.

So even with an Mfactory LSD and spec stage 3 clutch you wouldn't push more than 275whp??
