What have you done to your P5 today?

Soak with penetrating oil.
Bang with dead blow hammer / mallet.
Repeat.

well, tried to clean the egr valve, but couldn't get the 2 bolts that hold it up there loose. any tips? i just couldn't get to them. i took out everything that was in the way, except the battery, as my negative terminal nut was almost rounded off, and i couldn't get it loose. any tips would be appreciated.

You also need to pre soak with penetrating oil, get some flexible joint attachments for your ratchet and a friend with smaller hands helps too.

Replaced my rusty, nasty heat shield with a brand new black powder coated heat shield. Guess I really need to clean my engine bay now....

For now my rusty bolts are holding it in place. I have been thinking of buying new ones to replace them but wanted to get opinion/ideas from fellow forum members.

1) Clean old bolts and paint with high heat black
2) Clean old bolts and paint with high heat red
3) Buy new bolts and watch them rust again
4) Buy new bolts.....please see items 1) and 2)

Not sure what happened to my post about this yesterday.
Maybe I didn't hit submit after I typed it.

P5:
Sunday Dan came over to work on his ride. Washed car. Painted front calipers. Attached my custom MP3 style wind splitter that I painted black. Replaced ladder bar that had a run in with a dead animal on the highway. Was not a pretty picture. GT-Spec ladder installed. Mazda 6 wiper mod. Tried to add more shine to the hood but there simply is no clearcoat to work with.

Thanks to Josh for all his help as I am still not too flexible after having the appendix out.

So on the way to the "Altspace Garage" some roadkill came right out from under the car in front of me. I mean, no one on this single lane highway swerved at all. They were all able to clear it right smack dab in the middle of the road. Even if I was 4-5 car lengths I had no chance to react so I just grimaced and drove straight over it too.

But I'm lowered.

So there was a thump sound and I knew I made contact, but it was unmoved on the road behind me.
Nevertheless, there was indeed carnage on the very piece we were going to be removing, the ladder bar.

Your welcome for the visual aid...compliments of Altspace Studios (like my sig is too)

Anyhoo, wiper works great and looks hot but the front splitter is even hotter. The fresh paint on the calipers does wonders. Also opted to paint the spacers too.

I even broke out the car cover for the first time since I bought it years ago.

My wife admonished me for training her to car model. I told her she (my daughter, Rebekah) decided to be in the shot and pose, I just didn't tell her not to.

I vote for 4, then 1. (buy new bolts then paint black)

Got my alignment fixed, it was hilariously bad... now I can actually tune it and maybe go fast! zomg no way!!!!!!!!

was this just the rear or front also? my front (at least driver's side) came right off.

i dont think i'd be comfortable kicking something while under the car... lol :(

Another good way is to loosen the lug nuts, not too awful much. Then drive around for a bit. A guy I work with that used to be a mechanic said that is a sure fire way to get them separated.

why so much camber on the front?

autocrossing, but it is more than I had last season. It used to be at -2.5* or so, and about -1.5* in the rear. The new alignment is definitely not where I'd like it to be, but at least the damn toe is fixed.

Drove the car and it is starting to shape up... feels pretty good! Too much fuel yet but hopefully I can get a decent tune tonight.

Today I found the culprit of odd sounds. The flange going into the main cat off of the exhaust mani / primary cats broke off and is causing my exhaust to seperate when I'm on the throttle. Sounds like absolute s***. I guess its telling me it wants a header and midpipe...
