YEAH, it's finally Tokico Illumina install day! Been staring @ the pile of struts sittin on the floor in the garage long enough. Been gettin beat up by too many other scheduling priorities & it's time is now. Looking forward to the new plushness. (drools & rubs hands together) Must wrench now. Gotta go.......

Right, but whether you have a 7.5" wide wheel that has a 1" or a 5" lip, the outside face of the wheel would still be in the same position as long the wheels had the same offset. correct ?

Wheel offset is a measurement + or - from the center of the wheel.

started to paint the stock wheels black yesterday, got 1 done today and the next two maybe tomarrow, turning out pretty good.

I had to lend mine to a friend so they could get to work as their car is having a problem with the shifter bushing..

Nice. I am loving these.

There's a thread with a silver P5 with PIAA Super Roza's around here somewhere .... They were one of my choices, but dang are they $$$

Install Pics...56k suck

I just installed the OE MAzda autodimming/temp/compass rearview mirror, some of you wanted pics, so here go...(this is not a how-to. The kit comes with easy to follow instructions from mazda and they supply everything you need)

This is a pic of the temperature sensor next to the left foglight housing. The metal flange has two holes that the sensor clips on to.

To the left of radiator, there is an oval hole. The wiring goes through this and up into the engine bay.

This is the wiring coming out of the oval hole into the engine bay.

Coming out of the oval hole, this is how they tell you to route the wiring. I ziptied it and tucked it between the headlight housing and the frame. Then ziptied it again to the left.

This is the route from the headlight to the firewall that Mazda instructs. Please note, I went under all piping, bars, etc.

Wiring running along a-pillar from firewall.

I did not supply pics from the fuse box behind the kick panel because I didnt feel like taking it apart. I will take pics of that if it is requested. The wiring runs from the fuse box up into the a-pillar as well.

Running from a-pillar to headliner.

Wiring exiting headliner and plugged into the back of the mirror. One circle is the temp wiring, the other is the power wiring. I cant remember which is which.

Just got thinking about it a bit. You will probably have to give me some wheel fitment education. Why wouldn't they fit the P5 ? They come in a 48mm offset on a 7.5" wide wheel. They have the deep lip on there but, isn't the distance from the face of the wheel to the backside of the hub where the offset is calculated going to be the same on any wheel that is 7.5" wide with a 48mm offset ? The deep lip portion doesn't make the wheel any wider. Would it be more that the spoke or center section of the wheels have to come back more aggressively towards the centerline of the wheel to show the lip and make brake caliper clearance an issue ? PIAA's website shows them in their application guide with a fitment for the Protege. Although they do throw in the * agressive fitment may require fender lip modification * note.

48mm w/ 7.5in would fit just fine. I've got 42mm with 7in and 215's and no rubbing

^^ 215 with a 7" 42mm WOULD rub if you were lowered (the RB springs don't count lol). I rubbed a tiny, tiny bit with my 45mm 7" when I had 215. only when the car was loaded and I took a corner.

sometimes I imagine my car rubbing me, and it feels sooo good.

Crap, did I just say that out loud?

Beautious job, Grey!

What are the part/kit #s that I need to order?

Thanks guys.
If you want the mirror assembly and ONLY the compass: 0000-8C-A13-A

If you want the mirror assembly, compass AND temperature:
0000-8C-A14-A

I dont know how much these run for, this was a gift from a buddy. I had this for about a year before I installed it. It looks alot better than the original mirror IMO.

you'd have to lower it like 2". Right now the space i have between the sidewall of the tire and the fender in the back is between 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch.

your car must have been loaded to the max. for me to rub i'd have to bottom out really bad for the sidewall to touch fender.

AND YES, RB SPRINGS COUNT. i personally don't like it whent the tire is partially hidden under the fender....looks retarded to me. the tiniest of fender gaps looks best.
